Hulk and Iron Man Box Office Updates
Source:ComingSoon.net
June 23, 2008

ComingSoon.net has posted two separate articles on the box office results this weekend, one on the domestic figures and the other on the international results. Here are some clips from each;

Last week's top movie, Marvel Studios' The Incredible Hulk (Universal) starring Edward Norton took a 61% plunge this weekend, dropping to third place with $21.6 million just behind Kung Fu Panda with a total of $96.5 million, about $4 million behind the previous Hulk movie five years ago.

[Internationally,] The Incredible Hulk finished a close second by grabbing $23.4 million at 4,700 theaters from 50 territories in its second weekend. "Hulk" has raised its totals to $63.3 million overseas and $159.8 million worldwide.

Having earned a badge of honor from becoming the first movie of the year to cross the $300 million mark, Marvel Studios' Iron Man (Paramount) added another $4 million to its take, once again having the smallest drop-off from last weekend in the Top 10.

They'll do...til Dark Knight comes out.

Posted by: PUGGDOGG on June 23, 2008 at 02:40:27

... I prefer Ang Lee's version.

Posted by: speedracer216 on June 23, 2008 at 02:41:31

looks like Hulk isn't getting a lot of repeat viewers.... i haven't seen it yet. does that mean it reeks?

Posted by: The ButnakedAvenger on June 23, 2008 at 02:45:21

haha no way... Ang's hulk threw temper tantrums compared to this Hulk.

@speedracer

I'm seeing it again, so at least I'll be a repeat viewer. Go see it, trust me you will not regret it. The movie was amazing. The connection between Bruce and Betty was stronger, the relationship between Betty and her Dad was done much better.. and let's not forget...

The Hulk himself was absolutely amazing. His fight scenes with the army and with abomination were incredible, and his rage level was outstanding. They really did a great job on this one.

Go see it. Tomorrow.

Word. I saw Hulk three times. Can't believe good word of mouth hasn't made this movie the money it deserves.

People are probably dumb and think it's a sequel to Ang Lee's film. Oh well, dumb people miss out.

Posted by: GentleJeffrey on June 23, 2008 at 02:55:38

I don't get it! I have about seven or eight friends that say, "Oh Man, I really want to see the Hulk!" I've heard the same thing from other people. SO GO SEE IT!!! Its not that hard!

Then people are going to see the Avengers movie and complain that they don't understand whats going on...

The last Hulk movie just didn't have enough action. Thats it. Besides that it was one of the best reviewed films of that year.

Posted by: Soulshadow on June 23, 2008 at 02:58:43

See it, seeit again, tell your friends to see it... or HULK SMASH!!!
Seriously, this put Ang Lee's version in the dirt.... It's is more than woth the price of admission to finally see the Hulk done right!

Posted by: Nastyman on June 23, 2008 at 03:00:23

My sunday was ruined when I learned that Get Smart beat out The Incredible Hulk last weekend. This is my favorite super hero and its sucks ass that that people didnt go see it. We can pretty much call it quits cuz Wanted comes out next this week. God I'm so pissed.

Posted by: speaking for the dumb on June 23, 2008 at 03:00:50

People aren't dumb. The last Hulk movie sucked so bad that people saw the commercials for this new one and thought.....oh...another Hulk movie....no thanks. The commercials didn't do the movie justice at all. I gave the movie a chance and thought it was good. But the commercials/trailers didn't show the "general public" enough for them to realize this wansn't a sequel. And not everyone looks up the latest hulk news on the internet.

Posted by: Nastyman on June 23, 2008 at 03:02:02

Oh yeah and it was ****ing awesome for all you haters out there. God I wanna shoot Ang Lee so bad.

I will agree that TDK may do better than IM or TIH however if the fanboys post, please state the reasons why. Please do not indulge us with "They'll do...til Dark Knight comes out." Other than a good debate then I will take that as...kids filled with angst. When I say kids...I mean anyone who gives a "one sentence comment" that means your one line opinion. I love opinions but tell us more.

...And Here We Go!

I am Iron Man

Hulk Smash

Irony is a dish best served when you're not ready for the second serving.

Dark Knight will rule! Marvel can't stand a chance this summer. hahahahahahahahahahah

Posted by: FireFly's Enigma on June 23, 2008 at 03:10:04

^^^^^ My point stated

Posted by: man1985 on June 23, 2008 at 03:10:22

That really sucks for 'The Incredible Hulk'. It needed a big second weekend in order to avoid another Hulk flop. Not looking good for Hulk at all. It's already $4 million behind and it is starting to fall. 61% drop is still better than 68% drop (2003 Hulk) but still not good enough. Even if this Hulk gets lucky and lands at $150 million Domestic it still wont be much improvement because (adjusted for inflation) 2003 Hulk's $132 million Domestic would equal just about $155 million today. Too bad Hulk.

Although i don't think MArvel will care much. I mean I think they really rebooted Hulk so they could tie him in with The Avengers movie in the future anyway. Still, I bet they wish he would be doing better.

Can people please go out and see this movie, it's my favourite of the year infront of Indy and Iron Man which I loved too. It's like a cross of King Kong and Superman which can't be a bad thing in my book, beautiful movie that needs everyone's support!!!

Posted by: FireFly's Enigma on June 23, 2008 at 03:17:39

Much agreed, Man1985...The Hulk numbers are not what they should be but Marvel has a lot to look forwards to.

Man1985...Were you the one I saved with the phone call?

Posted by: man1985 on June 23, 2008 at 03:31:48

Oh yeah a while back huh FireFly's Enigma. Yeah that was me. Well lets just leave it at that ok bud, cuz I've been warned by SHH to keep my comments on topic or else I'll get banned again. But thanks for that 9-11 call. (insider's joke).

Posted by: FireFly's Enigma on June 23, 2008 at 03:36:36

LOL! Really? You're welcome.

Did you vote for IM or TDK poll, if so which one?

Posted by: OzzMosiz on June 23, 2008 at 03:37:46

Bang on. The commericials definitely do not do the film justice. They should've showed the Hulk & Betty in the cave and Banner running from the army etc instead of the slow motion jumping etc.

Posted by: man1985 on June 23, 2008 at 03:38:58

Actually TonyBoy, Love Guru and Get Smart aren't getting good reviews at all. Well Get Smart is getting mediocre reviews (at best), but Love Guru is getting aweful reviews. What's really surprising is 'Kung Fu Panda'. I mean its getting great reviews and it had a better weekend despite being released 3 weekends ago.

Posted by: man1985 on June 23, 2008 at 03:43:16

FireFly's Enigma, I'm really not sure which polls you are referring to but I guess you're asking who I think will have a better summer TDK or IM right? Well I'm really surprised and glad to see that IronMan had such phenomenal numbers, but I think TDK will be #1. By far. I think it's going to surprise everyone and make billions worldwide ($1.4 to be exact) - but then again maybe that's just wishful thinking.

Posted by: Walter Kovacs on June 23, 2008 at 03:46:00

oh my god this movie was so amazing.
the fight scene at the end between hulk and abomination... better than iron man vs. iron monger
oh my god its a good year for comic book fans aint it

Posted by: Walter Kovacs on June 23, 2008 at 03:47:31

first person to tell me where i got my name from gets a prize

Posted by: IncredibleFailure on June 23, 2008 at 03:48:11

This movie was so crap, I went to watch Ang Lees afterwards to feel better. I thought this movie was gonna rock but it only rocked me to sleep. Thats why the Box Office for this one is low, because it was a pile of s***. No more remakes or sequels for this movie PLEASE!!!
Iron Man rocked by the way.

Posted by: FireFly's Enigma on June 23, 2008 at 03:50:13

TDK may turn out to be #1 and by the trailers, clips and pics; it may be. IM was the surprise with no "a unknown villain" taking it more than $300M. Imagine what IM2 will bring us!

I see the IM and BB franchises being almost the same (in the movie dollar wise)
