Iron Man Villain Confirmed!!
Source:Blake Wright
July 22, 2006

Iron Man director Jon Favreau confirmed at the San Diego Comic-Con on Saturday that the villain in the movie will be fan-favorite Mandarin!

The Mandarin is one of the world's greatest scientific geniuses who is seeking world domination. Although The Mandarin has no superhuman powers, he is a superb athlete with tremendous skill in the various martial arts. For weapons, he uses ten rings he wears on his fingers that respond to his mental commands.

Marvel Studios has set a May 2, 2008 release date for Iron Man. Paramount Pictures will distribute the film.

Can't wait to see Mandarin in the next one! The Ten Rings criminal group should be a good villain and provide for some more variety in the action, with exotic locales and a top notch Iron Man adversary. Go Iron Man!

I actually enjoyed Clone Wars. Saw it last night. MUCH less cringe-worthy than the 3 prequel movies. However the central driving plot was the most ridiculous thing in the history of Star Wars. I think that's why it's getting such bad reviews. That and a couple nicknames are used waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay too much. Plus it works a LOT better as the first 3 episodes of a cool TV show than as a movie.

So as a MOVIE, per say, it was good/enjoyable but not great/hitting on all cylinders, but as the teaser for the new cartoon show this Fall, I'm pumped. TV animation has NEVER been done like this before, with the lighting and depth. The movie itself looked great and was infinitely more interesting and cool than the prequels. Some of the shots used and action sequences were awesome, far more creative than the prequels action scenes visually.

It also had a neat atmosphere to the whole thing (colour, lighting and depth were amazing). Plus it seems more evened out than the prequels because in the prequels you had this great mix of things that looked like they fit in and things that didn't (bad CGI aliens, outfits & sets that didn't look lived in, etc.), creating a gulf of realism that affected your willing suspension of disbelief, but in this it was all done the same way so it blended together much better as a whole.

But there wasn't really any talk of the Force or too much Large Theme/Bigger Picture type stuff here, but taking into account it's just the first 3 episodes of 100 planned ones, you have to accept it's not complete in and of itself, that the series as a whole will flesh out over time.

In a nutshell, I liked it because the parts I didn't like weren't NEARLY as horrible or distracting in this as the parts or aspects I didn't like about the prequels. It also looked amazing on the big screen (the colours!). Plus there's 97 more episodes to watch and I think it could be pretty damn good as a continuing, ongoing series so I'm very excited for that.

They should probably be more focused on the announced Thor nonsence, and the War Machine.
I don't know about anyone else, but if the War
Machine is done wrong...
I don't even think Downey's remarkable acting
will be able to save it.
Lets hope they get this right.

That is crazy... RJ wrote a novel. Sad part about that is it was mostly about Clone Wars...

Posted by: Cal on August 18, 2008 at 22:10:20

I love Mandarin!!!!

Don't make him a scientist though... he's a sorcerer...

Science Vs. Magic

That's why he's such a great iron Man villain... Oh well, he'll be great. Who should play him?

Ken Watanabe maybe?

Posted by: Berzerker on August 18, 2008 at 22:22:13

@Cal
Yeah, because he's the only male Asian/Oriental actor in the world *rolls eyes*

Personally, I'd think Cary-Hiroyuki Tagawa [Shang Tsung] would be good, but possibly too old presently. Still, Stark isn't exactly in his 20's anyway.

Go advertize about Star Wars somewhere else, dip****.

Also for all of you thinking that this is new news, it's from 2006 and it's advertizing for the first film, so for those of you who were actually fooled, you're ****en retarded!

Madarin.
I'd like to see them cast either Kent Wantanabe or Chow yun Phat.

Posted by: joey on August 19, 2008 at 06:00:15

Awesome. Other cool villians are Titanium Man and Melter. Also Black Widow and Crimson Dynamo.

merdok would be awesome

Posted by: james on August 19, 2008 at 11:53:19

might be good might not be. lets just hope this doesnt get released near Batman three because well have to listen to downey jr. whine again about another films obvious stranglehold on box office sales.

Posted by: Keith on August 19, 2008 at 12:20:49

Wow SHH - you delete my review but leave RJ's. Now that's just unfair. Favouritism now?

Didn't you like Angus, Thongs and Perfect Snogging then? Shame, I thought it was rather good.

Posted by: Keith on August 19, 2008 at 12:24:57

Ok, you win, I'll stop trying to be intelligent and join the lunacy.

I think Iron Man should have The Paladin as the villain. I know it's already out and this is pointless, but SHH don't like small details like that being pointed out, so long live the idiocracy!

let it be released at the same time with batman 3
or avenger movie same time I bet one billion dollars bats 3 will not be as popular as TDK
Iron-man 2 will blow bats 3 out of the water
even if bats 3 beat IRON MAN 2 it sure as hell will not reach 571 million ever again.

im guessing this was just some guys made up fact, not based on anything but his own wishes. and obviously did not come true.

I think the villian for the sequel should be MODOK, the giant human pencil sharpener. Iron Man's villians are lame. Maybe he can borrow a couple from Spidey.
