Edward Norton on Hulk's Future
Source:MTV
September 16, 2008

The Incredible Hulk star Edward Norton tells MTV he is uncertain about the green fella's future.

"The minds of Marvel are sometimes opaque," Norton said. "I won't say [they're] obtuse, but I don't have any idea what they want to do."

He added he was not sure if he would be asked back for Marvel Studios' planned team-up project, The Avengers, scheduled for a July 2011 release.

"They've got this notion of collecting the Marvel characters," Norton said. "Who knows where they'll go?"

I've had lots of people say that they thought the Hulk in 2003 was the best movie and others say the 2008 movie was better. I thought the 2003 movie and Eric Bana were good but the 2008 movie and Edward Norton were the best. Ed was definately the right guy for the movie, and I definately think he should return for a third Hulk movie. Even bringing the Hulk into the Avengers with Ed Norton would be fantastic. Just imagine, The Avengers went after the Hulk believing he was bad. But when the Leader fights againsts them, the Hulk comes to the rescue. The Avengers wont get good ratings without the Hulk, he is the right character for the movie. Edward Norton would work well with Robert Downey Jr and the other actors too. Ed Norton and Hulk definately have my vote.

The Incredible Hulk was medicore at best. The 1st Hulk was a million times better. I really am shocked at what comes out of people's mouths on message boards. Norton while a very good actor absolutely sucked in the role as did Liv Tyler. I feel disgusted to be a human being when I see what people actually think on these boards.

I think that Edward Norton's Bruce Banner was a better choice and performance, not that Eric Bana's was bad, he was one of the best things of the first movie, but Ed's was just a lot better. The first creature, however, was a lot better than the second, from the shades of green in it's skin, to it's facial expressions. The only problem with the creature was the scale, they made him too big. But the creature in itself was incredible (pun intended). The creature from the second movie, not so good. It's shades of green were a little more brownish and it looked a little... I don't know... dirty or something. It's facial expressions could've been a little better. But still, people, stop saying that the creature looks fake. It's stupid to say that. Think about it. how many 10 feet tall, green skinned people do you know have existed in this world??? How many people do you know can rip a patrol car with their bare hands?? oh, and the fact that BOTH creatures were fast and agile and jumped really high is a really cool visual in the movie, so don't complain.

@ rhodes
we all are here
personally I like both bana and norton hulk ang lee's hulk would of been ok if he had someone to fight like adbomination

Posted by: HULK on September 18, 2008 at 23:53:56

Man the first hulk had no where near the muscle showing that this new hulk had. And he looked more like the hulk out of the comic book than ang's crap playdo looking hulk.. This movie rocked.. I just wish people hadn't been so damn dumb and get off there butt and watch the movie when it was out on theater.

@ Mike

Damn Mike, a little harsh don't you think? Whats wrong with TIH fans expressing their appreciation for the movie? If being on here make you so disgusted...why are you here? Just asking.

if he's digusted of being a human being he should do something to get rid of the problem......himself;)......U can't sway our thinking by posting your opinion...we(about 95% of us on this message board) loved the movie and that will NEVER change!!! Mike....Do us all a favor and
"Take a long walk on a short plank"
bye!!!:)

I could care less for the Hulk, he has ruined all the animated Avengers movie. His character sucks. Stan lee's worse superhero. "Hulk Smash, Hulk invincible, Hulk......Oh Hi Betty, hulk back down to puny human now." Every Charcter has to have a weakness and his sucks!!

There will be a sequel, with or without Norton (I'd prefer with). Sure it didn't make as much as The Dark Knight or Iron Man, but it made enough in it's first 2 weekends to constitute that the studio consider it. Also you have to factor when it hits dvd next month.

Kevin Smith said it best in An Evening With Kevin Smith 2. When a flick is run in the theaters, it's great when it's a blockbuster, but that's like one huge commercial as well. The studios like it when you either recoup the funds that went into making it, or surpass those amounts. The real money (he said) comes with dvd, cable, pay per view, network t.v., merchandising, etc...
That's why when it took the studio the money it took to fund Clerks 2, even though Clerks 2 wasn't a huge selling blockbuster, they made more than what they put in theatrically. The post theatrical run (dvd, cable, etc...) really was the thing (like it is with all flicks, big or small).

Look at a flick like Grandma's Boy. It came and went when it was in theaters. But it hit big with a huge following on dvd. The guys at Happy Madison Productions (who did Gradma's Boy) were already working on Strange Wilderness when Grandma's Boy hit theaters. The studio sat on it, due to the quick theatrical run. When it gained a cult following on dvd, the studio saw how much fans liked it and pushed Strange Wilderness ahead.

Given this all, I feel we'll see another Hulk flick. Love it if Edward Norton returns. But, there will be another...

...GUYS, IT'S THE HULK!!! ;)

---Later!

@Steven The Comic Book Artist!

Well said! I will be very disappointed if Norton does not reprise this role. If the next one is a sequel and Norton refuses for other reasons than cash. I'll be really disappointed in him. If the studio refuses to pay him and move ahead with another talent, again, I'll be disappointed. Perhaps even lose interest. Consistancy at this point, has become vital.

Please for the love of god, let this message somehow find it's way to Edward Nortons ears,
I ****ing love the Hulk, and Norton did a spectacular job at playing Banner/Hulk, and rewriting the script to make it separate from ang lees abortion.
HE MUST RETURN

Gregory...Your gonna come on to a Hulk board and write some seriously disrespectful shiht??? People have been praising this movie on here and expressing their devotion to the character, and you come on here and bash his very existence??? If you could care less about him, THEN WHY ARE YOU ON HERE???!!! You just want to purposely cause a stir, don't you? You have no respect for the fans of Hulk on here, do you? You think your funny for coming here and basically spitting in the face of ALL the Hulk fans on here by your rude remarks, don't you? Well congratulations Gregory, you are soooo cool because you don't like the Hulk and you came on here to let everybody know it. ha-ha...damn you funny.

Posted by: IMD Hulk on September 20, 2008 at 03:54:47

mr. Nice gUy...well said sir. I think we need to apply your statements to a mr. "I'm funny and cool" Gregory also!

Marvel should move on from the Incredible Hulk. He was blown away by Iron Man and smashed by the Dark Knight. All they did was rush the movie in order to get it out there on Iron Mans' ass. Thats dissapointing you could understand it when another studio dosent give the characters enough love but when Marvel does it to its own children that real sorry. I didnt like Liv Tyler in this either all I could think about with her was rings and fairies its almost as if they had to bring her in to provide some needed credibility (no pun intended). I was less pleased with the Leader tease. I expected to see him at least after the big battle but NOOOO we get the voice and the premise but no big headed green guy! Marvel you need to slow down, keep your minds on the here and now the Avengers will come and hopefully it will be like the Wizard of Oz of our time or something but that yellow brick road needs to be paved out of gold. Hulk could have been better than Iron Man, but they sacrificed it for the "good of the whole". Bad move Marvel thats a bad trend. So now Hulks been introduced to the pot just leave it there and let it simmer. Hopefully they do Thor right and Captain America too. Let Iron Man tie them together with his sequels and then BAM!!! Bring the Hulk back for the Avengers. Marvel can even fix the CGI weakness. Remember that for his first few comic issues Hulk looked different in almost every one of them. So instead of the Jack Kirby Hulk lets have the Steve Ditcko! And by the way the best part of the whole movie was the Stan Lee cameo. EXCELSIOR!!!

Mike......i suggest you type:
"(I hated the IncredibleHulk...but there's not enough people who agree with me to make this an official board)board"

Gregory.....u should search:
"In my attempts for friendship i have jumped on countless message boards to state my personal dislikes and yet no one seems to care" board!

Dan....you're different!!!i actually respect your opinion becuz u went in depth as to why u didn't like it!!!but that doesn't mean i agree with you!!!

All i have to say to u Dan is:
"Thanks.....But No Thanks!!!"

i would like to point out that that hulk will probobly be the villian in the avengers movie much like in the Ultimate series however im sure that by the end the Avengers will realize that hes not evil and he may even help them defeat the real villain but i doubt he will actually join the avengers. even in the normal Marvel universe i think its 616 (not positive) the avengers were formed to stop the hulk when the real villain was Loki. If Marvel doesnt want to make a Hulk Sequel then the Villain could be the leader who would puppetmaster the whole situation much like loki did in the comic

I would like to say that The Incredible Hulk is possible my favorite movie second only by Battle Royal (check it out) the Final Fight in my eyes is one of the Best. Of course I Base all Battles off of Superman 2 the Fight in metropolis with Zod and his crew, that set the bar for every movie to come (take into consideration that this movie was made in the 80's and had no cgi) Imagine if the Hulk battle was 20 min like letterier wanted it... EPIC. I think the Hulk was great and the only thing that wouldve made it better would be 10 more minutes of Clash of the Titans Incredible.

I think one more movie is due to the Hulk to actually show what he can do...for anyone who doesn't know of the comics and just the movies will be misled as to what he has potential of doing(that's what 20mins. of fight scene was supposed to do)!!!people who just watch conic movies could think along the lines of "i think Magneto could easily beat Hulk in a fight"...which all comic fans know is not true...even garbage!!!what i'm trying to say is...it wouldn't feel right jumping into an Avengers movie without showing the "movieonly" fans what one of the powerfull/unbeatable heroes in the Marvel universe is capable of doing!!!i have yet to see a building leveled,a crater being formed,a fellow hero/villian being puched large distances or the main fact that the angier he gets the stronger he gets(and that in itself is almost limitless).i can put my haed on a block to say that people who only know of hulk from this last movie doesn't know that fact of how strong he really can get.they probably just think he's just very strong...and that's it!!!It's like making a Superman movie without showing his laser vision or frost breath!!!
I Loved the movie...but i'm all for making others better also!!!TIH is a starter movie for me....and mostly all comic sequels are better...do us a favor and make a part 2!!!it won't dissapoint box office wise cuz the dvd will bring a fan base in it's self!

MARVEL .....this is what u made your movie studios for....to take control!!!
****Make movies that us fans want to see come to life...and also make movies that educate movie fans about your comics!!!****

Do this and all u'll see is $$$$.....and all us fans will be are Happy!!!

Posted by: mr. Nice gUy on September 20, 2008 at 11:12:35

sorry....i didn't see that!!!

Go Norton!!!

What Marvel really needs to do, is give the Hulk the most serious and chaotic story possible. TIH was truly a great superhero movie, but an even deeper story would be nice. I hate to bring up the movie on this article, but TDK has set a new level for all superhero movies, so I think that with the new Hulk movie Marvel should try making a pretty deep and serious story.

Posted by: beermonster on September 21, 2008 at 15:32:16
