Edward Norton on Hulk's Future
Source:MTV
September 16, 2008

The Incredible Hulk star Edward Norton tells MTV he is uncertain about the green fella's future.

"The minds of Marvel are sometimes opaque," Norton said. "I won't say [they're] obtuse, but I don't have any idea what they want to do."

He added he was not sure if he would be asked back for Marvel Studios' planned team-up project, The Avengers, scheduled for a July 2011 release.

"They've got this notion of collecting the Marvel characters," Norton said. "Who knows where they'll go?"

He must be the Hulk in The Avengers!

Norton was the best actor we have in any marvel movie so far. Marvel wants to dump him for the avengers just cus the hulk didnt make billions? Ironman was the first major film of the summer so of course its gonna make bank, but that doesnt mean downy jr is the best actor in the world. Hulk still did amazing! And norton better return or i begin to lose hope on a good avengers movie right now

4th!! YES!!! Norton was awesome!! I hope Marvel plays by the code of ethics and give this actor a chance with the character. Studios of this caliber are always trying to create the next big thing and when nothing works for them they can it. Sore losers!!

Kinda reminds me of what dumb Warner and DC plan to concoct concerning Superman, and other DC characters.

Get over yourselves!!! Make movies for the passion and then for the profit. Not the other way around.

This movie did not meet the expectations their dumb shareholders were banking for. Oh well, it shall do awesomely on DVD, so fess up and shut up!!!

I've never been a big Hulk fan, but I thought the Incredible Hulk was great and well worth a sequel. Everyone I know who saw it thought it was pretty good, but a lot of people were afraid to see it after 2003's Hulk. I think it'll be pretty popular on DVD and as word of mouth spreads, so I hope they green light a sequel. I also hope Edward Nortan and Marvel can put aside whatever differences they have, because if you ask me I think they'll miss out on a good opportunity if they don't. And I thought tying Iron Man and The Incredible Hulk together was the best part, it got people talking about an awesome superhero team up movie. Who knows though, hollywood is it's own monster.

I really wish we'll get the chance to see what Ed Norton's writer's cut would have been like.

Posted by: kevlar on September 16, 2008 at 01:35:39

I really enjoyed Norton as Banner/Hulk. He took the role serious and didnt go campy like RDJ in Ironman. I hope they don't make the mistake of letting him go.

Posted by: The Sean on September 16, 2008 at 01:36:34

come on norton get enthused, you could make history and be in the first movie to have so many comic book franchises meet. the first real team up movie ever.

Posted by: rudy on September 16, 2008 at 01:37:05

if they take out norton there just going to ruin the franchise. the hulk is a vital character in the avengers and they chose to start with norton and they gotta finish with him. imagine the avengers without downy jr as iron man makes no sense.

I hope that Norton realizes that the reason Incredible Hulk did mediocrely at the box office was because of the first Hulk movie sucking, and that sometimes it takes time to work past prior movies. Now that Incredible Hulk has proved itsef though, being a much better film, then people will actually go to the sequel now (same thing happened with Batman Begins). The sequel will surely make alot more than this one did, because now they know what they are getting. They know its a reboot, and that it was actually pretty good, so they will take a risk, finally, to see another Hulk movie. I hope Norton doesn't think there is a lack of interest in the Hulk out there, because that's not the problem. I hope he comes back, and is willing to be in Avengers, because he was a great Hulk. The dvd sales will be big for this as well.

im sure theyll keep him for the avengers. ive heard marvel wants to keep the actors they have established in their respective roles.

If he gets on board,Great,if not,no huge loss.I LOVED "The Incredible Hulk" it was my favorite movie this summer, but I went for the Hulk, not Banner, whether the Hulk is the villain or part of the team in "Avengers"if they go 616 origins as they should, Hulk was the one both on the team and one of the team's early enemies, not Banner. If they try to blend the origin with crap from "The Ultimates" then Marvel had best start sucking up to Norton, cause that mess is 90% Banner.

They BETTER keep him! And I think Liv should get a cameo too, just so I can see her as Betty Ross again. She's so HOT!

stay away from hulk until they get the cgi right and not laughable mr norton. You and hulk fans deserve better than crappy animation

Posted by: KDT on September 16, 2008 at 02:04:13

guys, hulk didn't reach where it wanted to be not because of norton. the whole plot itself is, i think, great. i do believe the screw is on the final cut. film editors have huge responsibilites putting together what the audience will finally see. i heard something about norton not being too happy with the way the film was finally edited...

does anyone else but me think that the Avengers Movie is going to blow?? I mean I don't know how u can even make a good movie with so many different characters in just 2.5 hours...Though I'm optimistic, I don't want this screwed up

Posted by: KDT on September 16, 2008 at 02:15:08

@ Gambit is Cajun

LOTR had a lot of characters. way too many characters. story is everything. audiences look for that. then comes cgi.

You know what's weird? These people can't determine on there own what makes a good movie. It is as though they licked the tip of their finger, put it up in the air to see which way the wind of opinion is blowing. This of course includes their marketing spreadsheets. The Norton Hulk was a reboot of a worse film. They should spend some millions to recover the Hulk on video. I know Im buying it. The only problem with Norton Hulk was the poor publicity leading up to the release.

this movie was awesome, even better than ironman in my opinion. They took the action and story seriously and the hulk himself was the best we've seen on screen so far. It just seems that Marvel spent and put all it's money on ironman, 24 hour tv adds, billboards, fastfood, everything was for ironman, hulk comes out a month later and we dont even get a full trailer until 3 weeks before the movie comes out. if anything it's marvel's fault for undermarketing the hulk and not making it clear it was a reboot of the old one.

loved the movie, but WTF with that DVD cover art? it looks worse than the one for the friggin game...again marvel not spending any love on the hulk...makes me dislike them by just thinking about it.

Ed Norton Hulk was great much better than IroMan in alot ot ways.. and if they do the Avenger movie they should have the Hulk in there so like in The Ultimates.. cuz the is how they are heading with this version of the Ultimate Universe..

Posted by: ross on September 16, 2008 at 02:56:46

i think they should use the Hulk for the Avengers, the plot could be the Banner loses control and the Avengers are called in to stop the Hulk's destruction!

Posted by: StarBlazer101 on September 16, 2008 at 03:00:08

@Gambit is Cajun

Who says the movie's gotta be 2.5 hours long????

It could be 3 hours long, Hell even 3.5 hours long.

As long as it's the greatest event in movie making history idc how
long the movie is.

i think they should use the Hulk for the Avengers, the plot could be the Banner loses control and the Avengers are called in to stop the Hulk's destruction!

thats good an all, but the whole movie would be about avengers fight the hulk. dont get me wrong but I would like to see other villains too

Posted by: hotrider12 on September 16, 2008 at 03:09:09

Im down for the HULK but I rather have him as a back up as the avengers fighting some alien from outer space. let the alien know you cant come here with that sh't

God I hope that this isn't the case. Norton and Downey Jr. have set the standard for the new Marvel franchises when it comes to be a leading man, bringing so much more to the films than just their day to day acting. I just wish that we get to see the extended Norton version, and not as deleted scenes, but as an alternate cut.

And as far as story goes, after two Hulk movies, we are just about to see a Bruce Banner who is a little more comfortable with being the Hulk and somewhat working his way to controlling it. As if we don't wanna see that!

Hulk MUST return as must Norton. I hate it when there are recasts in a series. If Incredible Hulk hadn't have been a reboot, I would've liked it a lot less, despite Norton's presence.

I don't know too much about most comics but I look forward to the future and anticipate The Avengers, given that it will be treated with the patience and respect that both Iron Man and The Incredible Hulk have so far...(despite the scene cuts in Hulk)

Edward Norton did great!!
Hope we get a sequel.
Though, I'm wondering about the Hulk in Avengers. Wouldnt he be in a Hulk state for most of the film... the story revolves around the Avengers, so all of them get less screen time... but in some stories, its the Aveners catching the Hulk who has gone mad, theres no RDJ kissing Edward on a helicopter. Though, Edward also does the motion capturing...
anyways, bring bak the Hulk it was AWESOME!!!!

and FOX still sucks for suing WB.
