Iron Man called for award winning make up? I think not.

Gambit is Cajun, I think you're thinking of the visual effects category.
I think Two-Face and the Joker warrant a make-up nomination for TDK.

Two-Face was mainly CGI and Joker was grease paint and prosthetic scars, not that staggering. If you haven't already, watch Hellboy 2, not for the story cuz it was semi-lame, but for the visual fx (i.e. Make-Up). I'm telling ya, it'll be Hellboy whether we like it or not.

@yopi
Even though TDK kicked ass, I think The Visitor was the best film I've seen this year. I mean last year.
And fanger, there is nothing wrong with classic style films. And I'm not an old guy, I'm 19.

So in this category, any ****ty movie can win as long as it had real good make-up?
I'm not sure what's to be nominated for make-up in TDK, though it was a great movie, but Hellboy was an irrelevant tragedy, regardless of it's Henson-ism.

Answer: Yes, you pretty much hit the nail on the head there, Eric. Even though it was a sub-par movie, it's VFX were ground breaking as some of that technology didn't exist before that movie was made. Gives me some hope for the Hobbit, when it finally comes out.

Make up that's a good race both should be nominated! Both had badass make up!

Have you people seen Maggie Gyllenhall in Dark Knight? No way in hell does that deserve best make-up!
Hellboy had many more characters, it clearly deserves the nod in this category at least.

Hellboy II deserves more than The Dark Knight. The Joker make-up its not that impressive. So its Two-Face if they win.
But Guillermo`s fantasy movies are like George Lucas. There are a lot special effects but actors are in some alien costume and these looks real.

As much as The Dark Knight is the better film, Hellboy II is still damn entertaining. I think Hellboy II should take this award. Their werent that many special effects in The Dark Knight and Hellboy II has some vibrant yet detailed effects. The troll market scene was so nicely done. Del Toro deserves this award in my opinon.

TDK is over rated by a long shot
Posted by: In your Face.. two face that is!!! on January 7, 2009 at 03:04:13
Everyone needs to get off of The Dark knight's jock...... and get on the Hulk's... it's bigger!

Why is it even a race? Hellboy II by a mile.
Anyone with good sense can clearly see that the make-up done in Hellboy II is vastly superior to TDK.
Like "In your face..." says; get off TDK's jock. You people (the spastic level fans) have suckled its ball sack dust dry.

i hope TDK gets it but there only like one thing that the makeup will notice, is the joker which is a very good job but hellboy has more makeup art.

Hellboy II was funny as Hell. It should win the makeup FX Oscar.

Hellboy II deserves over TDK. But let's face it, Benjamin Button is guaranteed to take it.

Once again the academy has completely missed the mark. The award should go to Quantum of Solace. Some less observant viewers have not noticed that Judy Dench is a dude. Without make-up he looks like an elderly Phillip Seymore Hoffman. In the Bond Movies he looks almost like a woman (maybe 65-70%). Those guys are F'n geniuses.

IMO of those two I would say Hellboy II deserves the win, no matter what you thought of the film I cant see how any can say that the plethora of monsters in Hellboy II didnt look absolutely stunning. While I love The Dark Knight I agree with whats been said, it was just white and red facepaint... Granted used to devastating effect, but the so too was its use in The Crow.

this coming from a tdk fanboy...this one is benjamin buttons.

When it comes to the two superhero films, TDK and HB2, HB2 should win this. It doesn't even need the myriad of all the other fantasy creatures featured in the film to win. Hell, the work done to create Abe Sapien alone should clinch this category.

As much as I'm a fan of TDK, I think that particular award belongs to either Benjamin Button or Hellboy II. Probably more Benjamin Button.
And whoever mentioned Iron Man need to seriously watch REAL movies before assuming it deserves any kind of recognition beyond a worthless People's Choice or MTV Movie Award for best trailer - or more likely "best fan's butt-kissing in order to make them forget about the basics of cinema and enjoy an overrated shallow ride".

My hatred for Dark Knight aside, I really liked the Two-Face make-up and I thought it was very well done. The Joker make-up in my opinion was crap. That being said, with ALL the make-up in Hellboy II how can they even compair the two ?
Hellboy wins hands down in my opinion.
