Movie was the Worst...

Posted by: Honest Fan on November 3, 2008 at 19:00:08

This movie was great, as was the first. These extras are... hmmmmmm... how do I say this??? Uh,... I'd rather watch my toenails grow. I was falling asleep by the end of the first clip and got busted by my boss for sleeping at work. When I explained I was watching some Hell Boy 2 DVD clips, and started going into detail about how boring they were, he too fell asleep. Now he's in my cubicle snoring and I can't get any work done.

Geez SHH!, how much is Sony paying you guys to hype Blu-Ray discs? Every time a movie is about to come out in stores you give this annoyingly trumped up article about how glorious Blu-ray is and how it's the best thing since the invention of porn.

I'll stick with the $20 cheaper DVDs, thank you very much. Yeap. Standard definition for my standard television. Don't need to watch special features while I'm watching my movie. Don't need to make my own snarky commentary. Don't need to spend two weeks pay buying a lame video game station or another piece of clunk for my entertainment center.

The common man has spoken.

but is this the 'real' version, or is there gonna be a Director's Cut in 3 months like with the first movie?

Posted by: Dr. Doc on November 3, 2008 at 20:37:00

i actually liked the first one ALOT more...

Posted by: H-town Mack on November 3, 2008 at 20:44:21

The first one was good and interesting, but the second one was dumb and a damn kids movie! Had it been more in tone with the first one it would have done better. I walked out of the thing.

Posted by: .... on November 3, 2008 at 20:55:16

did anyone else think the beginning with young hellboy was awful? anyway i liked the first one better. But this one was a fun movie.

Posted by: me too on November 3, 2008 at 21:11:27

Agreed. The first one was much better, and the second one was too children-oriented. The first one had nazis, this one has elves.

I like the DVD cover for Hellboy 2:The Golden Army.Ron Perlman was born to play Hellboy.
I love the first film and I love the sequel.
I guess it remains to be seen if Guillermo del Toro will return for a third picture after finishing The Hobbit.

I really liked this movie, the troll market (i know this has been said before) reminded me of the canteena scene from Star Wars.

It's going to be a long time till we see Hellboy 3, he's going to spend 2 years on the Hobbit, then he's got Frankenstein and the Mountains of Madness so it could be like 6 years before we see the sequel.

i was just wondering when this was coming out. sweet.

Xander Quinn, you rock! Down with Blu-ray!!!

I NEED THIS MOVIE IN MY HOUSE RIGHT NOW!!!!!!
HELLBOY II WAS THE SECOND BEST MOVIE FROM THE SUMMER.
THANKS TO GUILLERMO DEL TORO.

Posted by: Abe on November 4, 2008 at 01:15:53

I got the dvd with me now!! they are selling it in my country since yesterday!

Posted by: Cloud on November 4, 2008 at 01:52:54

Can't agree more.
IMO, The Dark Knight had to be the best movie in summer2008 and Hellboy2 is close, 2nd in place.
I found Hellboy2 to be more enjoyable and overall a better film than Incredible Hulk and Ironman.

Actually, 'the common man' is the one that is responsible for Blue-Ray's success. People want hi-definition now. Why on earth would a company market something that nobody has any intention of buying?

When DVDs came out, people made the exact same argument you are doing because they didn't want to move away from VHS. Guess what happened?

Posted by: Dr. Doc on November 4, 2008 at 07:35:35

yeah, they dumbed it down too much...

it wasnt a terrible flick, decent, but i dont think i would watch it again

Guys and Girls Hellboy II: The Golden Army looks better than the original from 2004. The DVD definitely looks better I heard that Hellboy II didn't do as well as the first film in theaters. Then, later I heard that it did pretty good. I looked at the Box Office domestic gross and the film is way under Ironman, The Incredible Hulk and The Dark Knight kind of, sad to see a Marvel project at the bottom. Hellboy isn't the only movie at the bottom of the movie gross totem pole. Spawn was another former licensed, Marvel film before Todd MacFarlane bought his character rights back from Marvel.

Posted by: alannon on November 4, 2008 at 14:48:28

enjoyed this movie very much. looking forward to watching both films back to back when it comes out.

P.S. -- and yes, i'll be watching it on blu ray... which may not be worth the extra $10, but until you've heard the lossless audio on a 7.1 surround system, i don't think you should put it down.

Yes Nolan seems to be the flavour of the week danDman.
Del Toro di%k has more talent than Nolan.

Posted by: Dr. Doc on November 4, 2008 at 23:41:02

@ youpeopleraecrazy

whoa whoa whoa

Del Toro at times seems to be more interested in filling the screen w/ as many odd looking creatures he can think off than actual story telling

Nolan on the other hand is ALL about the story

i think that both are great film makers, but there is no need to say things like

''Del Toro di%k has more talent than Nolan.''

its simply not true. only recently has Del Toro been coming imto his own as a great film maker (Blade 2? yeah it might be the best in the series, but thats not saying much)Del Toro relies too much on spectacle at times.

Meanwhile every one of Nolans films hits the mark. He has pushed the envelope in terms of narrative like no other
