Cooper, Reynolds & Timberlake are Green Lantern Frontrunners

In a follow-up to this item, The Hollywood Reporter says that Bradley Cooper, Ryan Reynolds and Justin Timberlake are the three frontrunners for Warner Bros. Pictures' Green Lantern.

Along with director Martin Campbell and producers Donald De Line and Greg Berlanti, Warner Bros. has spent the past five months searching for the actor to play Hal Jordan, the hot-shot Air Force pilot who is chosen by a dying alien to be his successor in an intergalactic police force known as the Green Lanterns.

Other actors in the early mix included Michael Fassbender, Henry Cavill and Jared Leto.

The trade adds that De Line, Campbell and the studio each had a different favorite among the three finalists, making it difficult to come to a consensus.

The studio is targeting a June 17, 2011 release.

It's like the director's worried about that this movie won't be good without "famous actors". :P This is really stupid, I could do so much better with the casting choices. How about the African Lantern Jon Stewart (from the JL animated show) instead? Eh...

i would love it if Ryan Reynolds got the part. THen he could be Deadpool, Green Lantern, AND the Flash and really confuse the hell out of people!

I think Bradley Cooper would be a great choice... As for Justin Timberlake... I'm hoping that's a typing error.

If Justin Timberlake becomes Green Lantern I will not watch the film.

I already have little hope for a GL movie where such apparent idiots would even consider an "actor" like Timberlake. I am glad that they weren't in charge of the Thor project. HHH would have been cast months ago.

I'm pulling for Brad Cooper... and I'm sorry about your balls, Mojo.

Posted by: Black Hand on July 10, 2009 at 02:59:19

Justin Timberlake.... watch the movie southland tales, it might change your perspective of him as an actor

Posted by: andrew on July 10, 2009 at 03:06:09

I thought the 3rd one was Chris Pine, not Ryan Reynolds.

gibbyblaylock........nathan fillion would be way better for captin A.......... cooper as hal.............and reynolds as the flash..........done peace out

Posted by: blah on July 10, 2009 at 03:12:15

if timberlake gets the part the movie will automatically fail

Posted by: BMTRN on July 10, 2009 at 03:14:21

Ryan Reynolds makes the most sense to me, but knowing he will be Dead Pool complicates things. I can't see Marvel/Fox and DC/WB being ok with the overlap. Unless Dead Pool would never remove his mask in the movie. Whoever they choose, no JT please! Let's leave the acing to the actors for this one.

Nathan Fillion should play Hal if he doesn't play the Lone Ranger!!!!

Posted by: huy on July 10, 2009 at 03:36:44

chris pine please

Posted by: Pete on July 10, 2009 at 03:40:23

Jesus, do these "three" even like Hal Jordan!?

Just give it to Brian Austin Green already!

Posted by: joe on July 10, 2009 at 03:41:07

will not watch with timberlake

Ryan Reynolds doesn't need this role too. He's already Deadpool (a perfect role for him) and up for the Flash if that ever comes to fruition. Bradley Cooper isn't a bad choice, I think he'd make a pretty good Lantern. But my vote is for Justin Timberlake. Especially after his work in movies like Alpha Dog and Southland Tales. He's a very good actor. Sorry I'm as much of a comic fan as the next person but I'm not going to nerd out and deny quality for someone who fits the "look"...

Posted by: Robert II on July 10, 2009 at 03:42:46

Reynolds also does technically have Hannibal King too now that I think about it...

Im calling BS the cooper guy, i don't know.

but timberlake and rynolds sound like it was ment to piss people off, mabey on purpouse to make cooper looke more apealing.

I doubt the truth behind this, but if justin timberlake or ryan rynolds are even in this movie, let alone the atrocity of them playing Hal. I will never see this movie.

that be a perfect indication of what they are going for.

Hell if they are realy even considering them it tells me this will be crap

oh and the rynolds thing, if he did it fox would have him out of deadpool real quick, look what they did to singer for doing superman.
