Green Lantern to Start Filming in September
March 18, 2009
Warner Bros. Pictures is scheduled to begin filming The Green Lantern in mid-September in Australia, reports Production Weekly.
To be directed by Martin Campbell, the comic book adaptation is targeted for a December 17, 2010 release.
The "Green Lantern" was created in 1940 by writer Bill Finger and artist Martin Nodell. Hal Jordan introduced in 1959, a second-generation test pilot, is an ordinary man who was given the power ring and battery (lantern) by a dying alien named Abin Sur. When Abin Sur's spaceship crashed on Earth, the alien used his ring to seek out an individual to take his place as Green Lantern: someone who was "utterly honest and born without fear."

So DC is FINALLY doing somebody other than Batman or Superman. Gee, only what a decade behind Marvel? lol.
I would like to see:
Green Lantern: 2010 (Obviously)
Batman 3: 2011
Wonder Woman: 2012
Superman WITH Brandon Routh: 2013
The Flash: 2014
Justice League: 2015 with all the same actors.
Maybe DC will finally get their **** together and make something like this happen. Doubtful, but you never know.

Shouldn't they have a cast?

wtf? why are the comic book websites putting "THE" in front of all these titles? it's "WATCHMEN" not "THE WATCHMEN." and i'm pretty sure that it's just "GREEN LANTERN." and where's the shout out to gil kane the guy who created hal jordan?

Sam Worthington could be Hal Jordan.
But Chris Pine will be a great choice as well.
Hugo Weaving for Sinestro!

Pretty psyched. I even like to see the DC animated film this summer as well. Just hope they get a great pick of an actor for Hal Jordan.

GL and Flash are clearly the best properties for DC to fast track. GL itself could work very well as a planned trilogy with a guardians of the galaxy spinoff movie if audiences like what they do with stewart or guy gardner, assuming them have cameos of some kind in the film/s. But....the real question is....do we get nathan fillion as Hal? Who is the lead, thats what we all want to know. who who who, and what are we doing with story. Are we going to go with something space and alien-y from the get-go, or are they going to restrict it to being mostly earth-bound with very little space stuff to ground it more in reality. For my money, I think they are best served by making the space element central to it all, so it doesnt seem out of place when they try to introduce it in a sequel or something.

Batman 3 will probably be out 2012, not 2011

it's really surprising that they are filming this sept. usually with movies this big they have their lead actors cast about a year in advance.
Posted by: smash adams on March 19, 2009 at 01:59:08
i mean a year before filming. i want to say brandon routh was cast as superman in 2004 and the movie released in 2006. /shrug

well i guess that officially confirms Campbell as director of GL and a start date. the next bet should be casting. they should have a list by now, its only 6 months till lensing and i'm pretty sure they need whoever will play Hal Jordan to train and hit the gym, even if he doesnt have to be as built as Superman or Batman.

Jake Gyllenhaal for Hal... He's already done some bulking of for Prince of Persia, I think he'd be a fantastic choice.

*bulking up

BTW it's probably gonna be David Boreanez as Hal/GL!

"So DC is FINALLY doing somebody other than Batman or Superman. Gee, only what a decade behind Marvel? lol."
Well really it's Warner Bros., not DC, that owns most of the film rights to DC's properties. So complain to them.
And I hope I never see a Justice League movie, ever. Crossover group superhero movies are ridiculous. Avengers is going to be such a huge disappointment. Hopefully it will kill off any other proposed group crossover projects.

that seems a little , quick scares me. let us hope.
a cast would help. and if its any thing like the animated fillm looks like it will be, it would be nice. hope the corps play some kind of role, i fear Hal stoping bank robers and geting cats out of trees.
a good sinestro casting would give as much faith as jordan. I like the idea of hugo weaving

"So DC is FINALLY doing somebody other than Batman or Superman. Gee, only what a decade behind Marvel? lol."
Probably because besides batman and superman DC heroes are lame. How can aquaman, wonder woman, flash compete with spiderman, thor, ironman, hulk, wolverine.

Shouldn't they, I don't know, cast someone before setting a shooting date? There hasn't even been any CASTING RUMORS!
