No Green Hornet for Nicolas Cage
Source:Heat Vision
September 8, 2009

While he was never officially cast, Heat Vision reports that Nicolas Cage won't be playing the villain in Columbia Pictures' The Green Hornet, which director Michel Gondry has started filming in Los Angeles.

Sources for the Blog say that the studio is on the hunt for a new actor to play the villain in the comic book adaptation. No scenes with Cage were shot for the movie.

Columbia is planning a December 17, 2010 release for the pic, which stars Seth Rogen, Cameron Diaz, Jay Chou, Edward James Olmos, David Harbour and Tom Wilkinson.

GOOD!! NICK CAGE IS A TERRIBLE ACTOR. PERIOD.

Posted by: soopermann on September 9, 2009 at 00:37:34

this movie just keeps getting worse

Posted by: Superion on September 9, 2009 at 00:40:56

I don't see this as a bad thing.

Nicolas Cage is only good at playing weird people like in Raising Arizona, Matchstick Men or Adaptation. Otherwise, he's not really that good of an actor.

wow, this movie keeps getting delays after delays for some reason. its starting to even make me wonder about this film's chances now.

lol @ green hornet

Posted by: MDI on September 9, 2009 at 02:06:43

Thank God he's out..

After Ghost Rider, he should not be allowed to be involved in any movie even remotely related to superheroes, comic books, or masked men of any kind.

A HAHAHAHAHAHAH Cage proabably realized the music was gonna blow with Rogen as Britt Reid! Cage should have been the hornet. This movie is gonna suck sooo bad, it will make ishtar look like dark knight!

i love how everyone forgets his great performance in face/off. And he's not a bad actor, he just keeps picking awful movies.

Anyone care? Anyone? No? Didn't think so.

Posted by: Hal Jordan Jr. on September 9, 2009 at 03:12:49

omg this movie is gonna suck, I just saw the spirit and that was the worse flick I ever saw and im very liberal in my reviews. Hopefully this movie will atleast be watchable on tv---The spirit was not.

go green lantern:The movie go!!!! GOOOO dad!!!!

Posted by: r u ready? on September 9, 2009 at 03:40:02

I haven't watch The Spirit yet, geez Hal Jordan Jr. frightened me on watching The Spirit in DVD. Would anyone agree about this?

I'm 50/50 about Green Hornet. I can't imagine Seth Rogen being the guy in the mask. But it's the same thing for me when it was announced that Heath Ledger will play The Joker(though it's less unsettling because I know Ledger was a serious actor). If he can pull this off, he's superb, but if he bomb it, he should stick with his buddy Judd Apatow.

@Tony Stark's Illegitimate Son: the 8th thing was pretty damn funny. Most people let it go at 5th or 6th, but you took it all the way to the ocho.

The only good thing about the spirit it was, and i don't mean to be a perv, but eva mendes was fine like wine in that "hands in the air" scene. SUPA FLY!

Actually, Nic Cage is an EXCELLENT actor, try watching "Leaving Las Vegas" - but he is also an actor that like sto just have some fun. And on top of that, an actor is only as good as his director in some cases. he is told to "Camp It Up" and then people talk trash. Watch "City of Angels" and see - he can be amazing, but I actually like when he goes bonkers - otherwise that Wicker Man remake would have been DULL.

Nic Cage Rocks!

Posted by: john90-3.0 on September 9, 2009 at 04:04:41

cage is not at all a bad actor he has been acting since the 80's..he played in alot of movies that where mostly successful like
city of angels
con air
national treasure 1 and 2 ( 3rd 1 intalks)
leaving las vegas (acadamy award for best actor)
the rock
gone in 60 seconds
windtalkers
face/off( my fav)
Adaptation. (nom. for best actor)
does any1 know the reason why he left? if yes tell me with proof before telling me that he left beacause the movie is gonna flop witch i dont think so ...

Posted by: nelson on September 9, 2009 at 04:11:27

lol...this movie looks and sounds wack...they need to make a comic book movie of cool superheroes....they need to bring on Deadpool and a reboot of Ghost Rider without Cage because the first one was heartbreaking to see one of marvels coolest looking bad azz heroes go straight to hell (no pun intended) on the big screen. Ghost Rider was as bad as 2003 Hulk, so i'm hoping a reboot will be as good if not better than 2008 Hulk.

Posted by: NIck Fury on September 9, 2009 at 04:27:07

you kno wat funny....ya'll say Nicholas Cage is a terrible actor or talkin' crap about his acting....and yet he won an oscar for Best Actor in "Leaving Las Vegas" and got so many nominations.....and u guys telling me he is horrible actor??? explain that!!! IDIOTS!!!!

Posted by: Cameron12 on September 9, 2009 at 04:37:46

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!

Posted by: BE OFFENDED on September 9, 2009 at 04:45:27

Unbelievable--this project is such a piece of monumental crap that even the king of crap himself couldn't commit himself to it. Or maybe Cage was just smart enough to realize a movie in which Seth Rogen is an action movie hero is too much of a joke to be a joke--it's just sad.

Posted by: senorashish on September 9, 2009 at 05:28:43

AND SO IT BEGINS, THE DESCENT OF THIS FILM INTO UTTER GARBAGE!

Cage was the only part of this movie that inspired interest from me. He plays really good, crazy villains, but damn, here they are in production, filming the damn film, and they don't have a villain. Wow. This film should just call it quits.

Posted by: deacon on September 9, 2009 at 07:01:40

I dont get it, they already start shooting the scenes & yet they havent found a villain?
This is another sign of disaster, for un-organizing preproduction.
The 1st sign was they have to postpone the release date in order to avoid competitors suchlike the smurfs & ****bears.
Can you imagine that, they cant even dare to compete with kids movie.
How much worse can it get anymore or how great can it go?
I wldnt count on it.

If only the studio (Paramount is it?) had the foresight of not hiring Seth Rogen as Green Hornet, I am very very sure that Nicholas Cage would have signed on to do this flick, if he knew a credible actor was going to play Brit Reid/Green Hornet(George Clooney would have sufficed or Gerard Butler or any guy in the Christian Bale mold). Unfortunately, these studio execs pressed on and continued to harp that Seth Rogen IS the Green Hornet, while the rest of us disagreed. I am sure Cage bolted, because he knew that this movie was going to bomb and was going to be a jokey superhero movie that was going to be dissed by the mainstream audiences.
