The Green Hornet Now Facing Tron Legacy
September 3, 2009
While it hasn't even been a week since a release date for The Green Hornet was revealed, the comic book adaptation already has some big competition.
ComingSoon.net reports that Walt Disney Pictures has now also slotted Tron Legacy for December 17, 2010. This is on top of The Smurfs and Yogi Bear, which were both already on the date.
We assume the studios will be moving one or more of these films to a new date to avoid the competition. The Green Hornet and The Smurfs are both Sony releases, so probably one of those will move at least.

hahaha! I wonder which one more people will go see, I'm guessing the movie with Jeff Bridges and super sweet story and CGI over Seth Rogan in a fedora and green mask with hardly any following. And thats coming from a Green Hornet fan. GH is doomed.

As a long time Green Hornet fan I am happy to say that I will be seeing Tron Legacy instead! Go to hell Sony! Go to hell Seth Rogen!

There goes Green Hornet making money. 2 kids movie and tron. Its almost like they just closed their eyes and pointed at a date on the calendar. I'm still on the fence with this movie. Especially with all the hangups. I'm surprised principal photography has even started

Tron is a long time comin, and they will need childrens films around Christmas to sell better, so I am betting Green Hornet takes a backseat and moves it's date, since he is one of the lesser known heroes to begin with.

GH will get slayed if its not moved again.

They should do themselves a favor and just release to DVD

It's like the studio thought that GH, Smurfs and Yogi were not going to make any money at all. That makes them seem like they think the film will just annhialate the competition. These studios just don't make sense to me sometimes.

GH will make under $8m whatever date they pick. I've noticed all the news for this is always bad...

I meant opening of $8m...

WOW! Here we go again with the release date December 17 2010! I guess Sony and Disney are really into the holiday season next year.

I think that Chronicles of Narnia: Voyage of the Dawn Treader will beat out all those movies. It comes out just one week earlier.

@tmc04, lets hope dude. i'm also crossing my fingers for Narnia, given the misstep on releasing the arguably better 2nd movie right smack in the middle of the summer heats last year. keeping it in the Christmas holidays should always be the standard for Narnia, whether theres snow in the story or not.

I loved Prince Caspian, and I remember loving the book of Dawn Treader, but I'm still betting Tron is gonna win and be the best. It's TRON!

What is the deal with the smurfs? Do kids still watch that? I was born in '82 so i am likely well beyond most of your years, but seriously? I never liked yogi bear. Its almost like the jetsons movie from back in the day...why?
