Paramount Home Entertainment's G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra, which grossed $150.2 million in theaters, was the top DVD and Blu-ray Disc seller and rental in its debut week.

"G.I. Joe" sold 3.8 million discs in North America, 500,000 of them on Blu-ray.

The title marks the third-biggest title so far this year in first-week sales, behind Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen and Twilight.

Here's a review of G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra on Blu-ray.

Yo Joe?

I enjoyed this movie more than Transformers and I am looking forward to the sequel.

With DVD/blu sales like these, off the charts, we shall not worry about a potentiel sequel anymore... YES!!!

Posted by: LLcruize on November 12, 2009 at 00:31:52

The film did peanuts compared to Transformers 2 at the boxoffice and its debut is half what Transformers 2 did. It only got my money once at the theater and will not get any of it with the DVD/BluRay release.

This movie was real fun. Not great as it did have flaws but it was fun and it was not offense, foul mouth rubish like that peice of crap, worst movie of 2009 or of all time turd called Transformers 2 Rise of the crap. I left the Theater happy and can actually say I had fun.

As a Transformers fan, G.I. Joe was the better movie. It did its mission, it was entertaining and fun. I really hope that there is a sequel. Sometimes I like it when the bad guy wins.

Jesus. It's official, people have more money than taste. Or sense. Or brain cells.

G.I.Joe was lame. Anyone who enjoys or supports a ****-tacluar film that holds story a distant third to poor acting and cheap FX are bottom feeding, ditch pigs.

Liking G.I.Joe and hating Transformers 2 is such a contradiction as they are both guilty of the same stupid ****.

Posted by: Calcifer on November 12, 2009 at 02:33:07

I'll probably be getting it at some point. So it will get more of my money that Transformers 2 did or will.

i didn't even wanna post. this sucks.

whatever. have your dumb joe movie then. i'll take resolute.

Posted by: James on November 12, 2009 at 03:12:10

Just what I was hoping for Transformers is still on top. I enjoyed that movie more than G.I. Joe

Posted by: b3mike on November 12, 2009 at 03:39:02

I agree with Vex. You idiots bashing Transformers and praising GI Joe are really contradicting yourselves. I shall weep for cinema.

Posted by: skid5jack on November 12, 2009 at 05:28:24

Not bad. Wish it did better though
This movie was so much better than Fartformers: Rise of Devastators balls

"Soundwave superior, human satellite inferior" please

Hey Vex & anyone who agrees with em.Transformers 2 sucked! The movie was exactly what Hollywood does with all big budgets & good stories. It hires a director and screenwriter that ****s it up.Now I'm not saying G.I.Joe was the greatest movie ever but it was better than Revenge of Micheal Bay (aka the Fallen).

WEll this G.I - Joe was alot better then Transformers 2... cuz of the fact of the stories and better character telling... the ACTION WAS GREAT TOO... so let`s do the sequel also transformers was mostly hype..

Posted by: meso soup on November 12, 2009 at 07:50:10

They both were mediocre.
Knowing is half the battle....

Posted by: LLcruize on November 12, 2009 at 08:03:51

It kills me all the "hype" posters who can't deal with the fact Transformers 2 kicked major ass at the boxoffice. You don't make over 400 million on hype people. The film did over 73% percent of its business AFTER the first weekend. That doesn't happen without repeat business and good word of mouth spreading. GI: Joe did 150 million, 64% of that after the first weekend. Which film was "better" is very subjective. Which film dominated the boxoffice, the numbers don't lie. Not to mention, Transformers 2 hits DVD/BluRay and sets a single day record. AGAIN, nothing subjective about that.

Posted by: Cobra on November 12, 2009 at 08:14:01

@ Vex

How are people that bash Turdformers 2 but praise GI Joe contradicting themselves? I enjoyed GI Joe but was bored ****less during Turdformers: People with some robots. So from an entertainment point of view, GI Joe was superior... how's that a contradiction?

Posted by: Confirmed!!!! on November 12, 2009 at 08:17:38

It is confirmed!! when you see Wolverine, G.I. JOE, and Transformers 2 making a lot of money it can only mean one thing, the end of the world is in 2012 and this is the prove!!

Posted by: Brand-O on November 12, 2009 at 08:41:10

Yo Momma,

It's a MESSAGEBOARD. Not a FAN-BOARD. If that were the case, then people would strictly come and show love for the movie.

That said, I enjoyed this movie. It felt enough like G.I. Joe to the point where I was satisfied, and it held my attention. It was a fun movie. As opposed to Transformers 2: A Disturbing Journey Into the Mind of Michael Bay.

Guess this goes to show the average IQ in the West is getting lower each generation...

Posted by: eejo on November 12, 2009 at 09:25:39

I enjoyed this more than Transformers also but please, please, please, fix Snake Eye's mask in the next movie and get rid of the mouth. I really tried getting past that but gawd I couldn't. His head just looked to big.

Posted by: Aziz Jackson on November 12, 2009 at 09:35:59

I enjoyed G.I. Joe and I can't wait for the sequel.G.I. Joe was non-stop action from beginning to end and I did like the story and just can't wait for the sequel.

I called my shot. I came, I saw, and I shut the haters up. I was on this site weeks ago and told every GI, and TransF2 hater that the DVD's would do well and that there will be sequels. Now case closed. GO complain about Avatar.
