The ultimate elite fighting force hit the big screen to defend the world and ended up conquering it in the worldwide smash hit G.I. JOE: The Rise of Cobra, which earned over $280 million at the global box office. The action-packed, visually arresting adventure based on Hasbro’s immensely popular action figures including DUKE, SNAKE EYES, STORM SHADOW and the BARONESS makes its eagerly-awaited Blu-ray and DVD debut in two-disc sets and a single-disc DVD on November 3, 2009 from Paramount Home Entertainment. The G.I. Armed with the coolest hi-tech gadgets and weapons, including jaw-dropping accelerator and camouflage suits, G.I. JOE is the last line of defense against those intent on world domination.
The G.I. JOE: The Rise of Cobra two-disc Blu-ray and DVD include a digital copy of the film, commentary by director Stephen Sommers and producer Bob Ducsay, “The Big Bang Theory: The Making of G.I. The film also will be available on a single disc DVD, which includes the commentary.
The two-disc DVD and Blu-ray packages will also feature augmented reality technology that will allow owners to participate in an exclusive 3D holographic G.I. JOE combat experience, utilizing their webcams and a special website. Fans will be able to choose between SNAKE EYES and STORM SHADOW, two of the most popular G.I. If they didn't write really dumb dialogue and had better leading actors, the movie would have been good. Channing Tatum and Marlon Wayans were weak in their roles. I hate that they felt the need to make Ripcord a dumb goof, and Tatum's acting was flat and lifeless. But, the action was fun, the supporting cast was great, and the plot was decent enough. Two stronger leading actors would have made the movie so much better and less like a Rush Hour duo.

terrible script, terrible directing, terrible animations, terrible character development, judging by how fast this movie went to dvd looks like they need the money.

This movie was a let down overall. It has some cool moments but the choice of actors, esp Duke, were bad calls, except snake eyes. The dialogue was horrible. None of them could convince me they were military elites. Too bad they could not make it like Resolute, a live action version of that would have been awesome IMO. Such a waste

Did you people really expect that much from a title called "G.I. Joe"?
It was what it was - I'm just glad they are doing another......

Well, it was at least entertaining summer fun, but nothing special, I will not see it again, sequel probably would not be that good and fresh. Snake Eyes was best part of movie, but others not so much.

There were only two movies this summer that I saw in theaters twice in the theater: the first was Star Trek, and the second was GI Joe. I don't care if the plot was simple or some of the acting was cheesy, it was a big, fun, loud action flick that reminded me of how fun it is to smash two action figures together in the back yard. I look forward to picking up this movie along with the other summer greats!

No thanks, ill buy the resolute cartoon instead, this movie was a letdown, an insult to the human race

The movie wasn't so bad imo.I watched the cartoon as a kid and i remember that it was campy as hell.It could have been better if they had casted better actors for duke and ripcord.Duke especially was awful.I think that a sequel has a chance to be much better because now both destro and cobra commander have been revealed.Although next time i would suggest to have less cgi and more practical effects,a movie doesn't have to be like a video game to be impressive. But it was a fun movie at the theaters and didn't irritate me like transformers 2.Now that was an awful movie.

The movie was enjoyable, and I'll be purchasing the DVD. It was one of the better action films of the Summer.

One of the WORST MOVIES EVER MADE. I love these douchebags 20 and younger who never read larry hamas comic, who liked this piece of **** film, it was NOTHING LIKE THE COMIC...i also get a kick out of the same forementioned douchebags who thought it was better than WOLVERINE,,,,,WHATEVER WOLVERINE WAS AMAZING....And what was up with the baroness really being a good character??? in the comic she is like osama bin laden....>>!>!>!>!

WOW TLD great comeback....maybe you should get out of your parents basement and maybe go out on a date with a girl or a guy...THE MOVIE SUCKED it didnt respect the source material.....and its obvious you never read the comic.

If you dont want to buy the movie: DONT.. However, I liked it and I will own it the day it comes out.. It is a good, action filled, movie.. No, it isnt deep.. It is simply good (G.I. Joe) vs evil (M.A.R.S. Industries/ Cobra). What do you expect from a movie based on cartoon characters? It isnt going to win an Emmy, it is just good sit-down popcorn flick fun.. When I want deep thought, I find a book. If I just want to relax, I find a movie... and this was relaxing fun.. (and then, as someone commented earlier, the eye-candy from the gals is pretty good too. Especially the Baroness..)
Enjoy

$ 280 million WORLDWIDE is a "blockbuster, smash, awesome, gotta buy the DVD etc. etc. etc..."movie? Considering the $ 175 million budget and $ 130-150 million marketing (depending on who you believe) I don't buy the spin...they reeealy need you to buy this DVD (oh, and more toys, please...)to dig out of this one...
It's really sad too, because a well adapted G.I.Joe movie could have been a monster...
Posted by: Brian Urso on October 5, 2009 at 17:40:05
DUKE first of all, the toy came first, then the comic, then the show, i expect them to respect the ****ing source material, but eh genius larry hama, which you obviously didnt read..if you did you would hate the piece of **** also

Brian Urso, why shoot down anyone whose opinion differs from yours? Admittedly, although there were differences from the source material, I was thoroughly entertained. And you really think "Wolverine" was amazing? I can see how folks wouldn't like "G.I. Joe", but at least it didn't have ADAMANTIUM ****ING BULLETS. Why don't you go jerk off to the Hugh Jackman nude scenes with your ***** ass?

Anybody who went to this film thinking "in depth" storyline, or "amazing" character development needs to give their head a shake...stupid movies sell, it's sad, an unfortunate waste to an art form, but stupid films sell. Do you think the studio met with their people and said "We need to show the world that G.I. Joe is a feast for the eyes...but also a feast for the heart"? NO...they met and said "Right, people will simply pay to see the title G.I Joe...and we only have this small purse amount for writing, so just find a hack...if they can type 'Snake Eyes' they get the job." I saw it for free...and thought it was okay, and worth the money IF you see it for free as well.
