I don't think GI Joe is going to get a sequel.

I'm pretty sure the sequel's already been green lit or will be very soon. Next movie we need more Snake Eyes and Storm Shadow and less of everyone else.

well...yes...i figured it would tank 2nd weekend cuz it was dubbed a childish and sophomoric film, though it was meant to be simple fun and it succeeded on that front...but the sequel is confirmed and it looks on its way to make back its budget and slightly exceed it....and....i dont c how u can have more storm shadow when snake eyes slaughtered him...unless he comes back as some robocop like machine with a human brain and the rest machine cuz snake eyes messed him up bad

Bring on the sequel...more character stories from the Joe files and less of "everybody is intertwined with everybody else". More Flint and bring on Tomax and Xamot! And bring a *lot* more Skane Eyes/Storm Shadow action!!

uhm @gambit89
Storm Shadow is dead, remember?

this movie was disappointing (atleast dukes acting) action scenes were intense and the surprise(doctor????) at the end was pretty cool. But only worth one time at theaters gonna wait for blu-ray to watch again.

I was worried but after comparing the box office of GI Joe with Wolverine, I feel confident that the sequel will happen. The reason I compared with X-Men Origins: Wolverine, was the fact that movie was panned by critics and hated by most of us fan boys. But if Wolverine has made a little over $300 million with its theatrical run and get a sequel. GI Joe can do that and have a sequel. YO JOE!

I just want a sequel, if for no other reason that to slightly redeem this film and the Joe brand. Sommers delivered well on action, but I'd like to see them make the next one a little grittier and get a more involved storyline, hopefully digging up some of the great dramatic material from the comics.

SPOILERS: Sorry if you have not seen it yet, skip this one if so.
I agree! I think Storm Shadow will be back as he has disappeared in the comic before and made it back. Plus I am sure their will be some type of 'icy water rebirth' scenario by maybe putting himself into the Arashikage Mindset before he hit the water or something.
Plus he says, 'when our master was killed, you took a vow of silence' and this does not indicate that he did it, even though he fled the scene and his sword was used. I think i remember in the comic that it was someone else who did it to force Storm Shadow out.
Im am pretty sure that you can expect Storm Shadow to turn Joe at some point.
I really liked the film to be honest, just the right amount of cheese on a tasty burger. :)

I think Storm Shadow will be back. Inject his preseved frozen body with healing nanomites and it's round 2.

Snake Eyes???? Wasn't that some movie that Nicholas Cage starred in??

only do a sequel if the studio first hires a new writer and especially a new director. sommers is a piece of crap hack who in his off time sucks monkey balls. he just surpassed mcG as the worst director ever!!
even if you liked this movie, i thought it was stupid, you have to admit that the cartoons were better. hard to believe a saturday morning cartoon delivered better story and acting. but it absolutely did!!

I enjoyed it....The Baroness is a babe...I'll watch a sequel!!

There will be a sequel... The film looks like it will make most of its budget back... And then with DVD sales and merch, it will make even more. No doubts. Sequel is coming.
Posted by: Joseph on August 17, 2009 at 11:08:48
Sequels are determined by box office and sales in DVD and Blu-Ray disks of a movie.
That being said, they set G.I. Joe up for a sequel at the end of the movie.
We've yet to see Serpanthor.

I don't get why everyone loves Snake Eyes. He's wearing some bizarre invincible suit that either looks like rubber or foam. It fits him like a padded Halloween costume. What's so cool about that?

Sorry but no, the movie wasn't actually good. I went with 5 other people (me being 27 yrs of age demographic, and the only G.I. Joe fan) and all 5 pretty had pretty much the same opinion.
Which is even more weird, I thought the movie was okay up until they went to Cobras hide out. IMO the movie fell apart from there.

Please for the love God don't do another one, if they keep the same writers. The story blew and Channing Tatum maybe the worst lead actor for a franchise movie i've ever seen. But seeing how this heap of crap is making a boat load of money a sequel is more than likely. So as a true 80's baby u know i gotta go see it lol. My only request lets see Terry Crews (everybody hates chris)as Roadblock. I mean look at that dude, he was born for that role and he has the comedic background to pull it off. Bring on the Dreadnoks

Byung Hun Lee (Storm Shadow) already signed up for three more movies... I was avid reader of GI Joe comics... For you who thinks Storm Shadow is dead-- You will be disappointed-- He has gone through much worse death than this and come back TWICE in comics...
YO JOE!!! Bring on the sequel!!!

@ Arameth5k
Well I guess no one can complain about anything now because according to you're reasoning, if you complained then you'd have to go prove you can do it better yourself. No opinions except positive ones, huh? You argument is laughable! You say this is America and we have a right to our opinion and then tell us that we would have to prove our opinion if it doesn't sync with yours! Hey, here is an idea: Try using your brain before totally contradicting yourself!
And by the way, no, the movie was actually not good. That's my opinion and I don't have to prove anything to you.

Old Gregg is right. Why the hell was everyone related? And worst than that Snake eyes and Storm Shadow already had there code names at 10 yrs old? wtf is that? And then Cobra breaks into the pit, kills i guess cover girl but lets general hawk the leader for crying out loud live with just a slash across the chest, that leaves him with a limp? Horrible and dumb and someone place let know where the hell storm shadow got that jet pack from? saying"Knowing is half the battle" twice in 10 min? Hell they only gave it to you once per episode on the cartoon lol.
Posted by: Turborevvinyungpunk on August 17, 2009 at 12:44:35
My bad i meant please let me know where the hell storm shadow got the jet pack from lol.
