Notice how they failed to mention how American GI Joe is.

Posted by: Random Poster #1 on July 22, 2009 at 20:30:00

no mention of GI Joe Resolute??? Fail. As far as I'm concerned that was the real GI Joe movie this year.

Posted by: J Smith on July 22, 2009 at 20:47:52

Can't Wait!!!

They have to use the "...knowing is half the battle!" line in the movie.

Posted by: The Pasha on July 22, 2009 at 20:49:54

I agree. G.I. Joe Resolute was great. I loved the Snake Eyes and Storm Shadow scenes.

Posted by: zenith16 on July 22, 2009 at 20:57:24

It's probably cause GI Joe Resolute went too far off course with killing storm shadow. when he was supper to a G.I. Joe manipulated by cobra and not some guy that killed his uncle over a final martial arts movie it was a cool interesting series. but unlike the other cartoon series that were closer to the comics they didn't write storm shadow off a psychopath and kill him off. though I'm not this live version will be any different with it straying off course. but what ever.

Posted by: zenith16 on July 22, 2009 at 20:59:58

I mean supposed to be. and fianl martial arts move.

and I mean I'm not sure the live action version will stray in some way it's self . ahhh well never mind you get it.

other then that it was ok.

YES...Someone PLEASE show the G.I. Joe Resolute anime to Stephen Sommers, and tell him that was how is supposed to look and feel (minus Storm Shadow dying of course, he's too badass of a character to kill off, at least right now).

Posted by: zenith16 on July 22, 2009 at 21:08:15

Actually it was show with bot the cartoons formerly to G.I. Joe Resolute and sigma six before that that storm shadow was supposed to be come a Joe again like in the comics and fight cobra. but as i said that was the only thing that's was mostly off. yeah storm shadow is bad ass. but he's not supposed to die period. well not by snake eyes. by helping snake may be that one is up for debate I guess. but he's not supposed to dye working for cobra any way.

damn i hate being tired. it messes with my typing.

If you're trying to get people to want to see the G.I.Joe movie, it's probably not a good idea to release a promo drawing atttention to how far you've strayed from the mythos.

Posted by: Mrpaul on July 22, 2009 at 21:53:14

Very interesting I think I just might like it.........maybe

Man, this looks stupid. I still can't believe they've hidden Cobra Commander from every single thing they've done, too. I saw the toy online and it looks horrible. So they're either trying to minimize the damage or leave it as a surprise they hope goes over well. News for you Sommers, it won't. You suck. All your movies suck. The Mummy movies, Van Helsing and now this. You're brutal.

Liked the history
Might enjoy the movie
Waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay better than that laughable (only out of emptiness) sequal for Transformers

seeing Snake Eyes and Storm Shadow throw down is worth sitting through the rest. however Snake Eyes having a mouth on his mask?

Blood Red,

How did you come across this information when the movie isn't even out yet?

Posted by: Blood Red on July 23, 2009 at 09:36:47

TF fan #2304,

I saw a preview screening of "G.I. JOE" and I regret doing so. It not only makes you cringe but, it will also make you really angry when you think of the bastardization of the source material and that an incredible movie could have been made had they stayed true to the roots.

I just read on Wikipedia that the Sommers (the director) and di Bonventura (the producer) specifically told Lee Byung-hun, the guy playing Storm Shadow, to not watch any of the old cartoons as preparation for the role, as he had not seen it in Korea.

What does that tell you?!? NO RESPECT!!!

Posted by: Button Pusha on July 23, 2009 at 11:27:02

Source Material my a--. Do you really want to see a guy with a parrot on his shoulder and a guy with a football jersey running around doing back flips over poorly aimed lasers?

Posted by: eldiablo_76 on July 23, 2009 at 12:12:19

i want source material. are they going to wear the outfits the wore on the cartoon into battle? jersey, button up shirts etc NO. they would have armor. i think you can have a little of both. a guy with a wolf & another guy with parot sure. in battle, prob not. why stray so far from orig story just to be orig. i am going to redo passion of the christ. christ will be red hair austrian that drives a jeep & kicks ass. the jews will b american indians & it will take place in texas. satan will be played by will smith. passion of the christ 2.0 it will be called. im sure NO ONE will have a problem with that movie. he is name is Jesus, thats close to source material.

I grew up in the 80's and I gotta tell ya. I really don't care what anyone has to say about the movie.

Sure it might be dreck, but at least it'll be dreck with explosions. I mean I know Michael Bay pretty much owns that area of entertainment, but I know a TON of people who still love it.

Just shows to go ya, PEOPLE (not irrate fan boys still clinging to their mint condition 1960's G.I. Joes) are what fill the seats. Durring the summer, people want action, sometimes with little to no plot involved (See Charile's Angels).

To the people who gripe about source material, maybe there wasn't enough to make a commercial movie based on a toy (ironic since the movie is a giant toy commercial). Just let it go. Just because you sank tons of money into hasbro over the years, does not give you license to whine and complain.

Are you a movie producer? Have you sold a screenplay? Direct any hits? Cus whether you care to admit it or not, THE MUMMY was a hit for the studio. A hit that spawned two sequels and a spin-off.

But I digress. If you plan on boycotting a movie because it doesn't fit your definition of "awesome" by all means, do so. But don't do it because Hollywood is "deficating on my childhood."

And if you are a person like myself, who simply goes to the movies for the escapism and fun of watching them, good for you. Spend a few bucks on that matinee ticket, get your tub 'o popcorn and soda, enter the theater and once the movie is finished, leave not saying a word one way or the other.

Cus when you take sides, nobody wins.

Now you know. And knowing is half the battle.
