G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra Movie Updates
Source:Superhero Hype!

With Paramount Pictures' G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra hitting theaters in less than three weeks on Friday, August 7th, we've received some new updates on the big screen adaptation.

We'll start with CineFOOLS who got a chance to speak to director Stephen Sommers at the Sydney, Australia press conference and asked about a possible sequel and the rumor that he was fired during post-production. He told the site that the cast is signed for a sequel and you can check out his other comments here.

Next up, Sommers has launched an official site at StephenSommers.com that includes an exclusive clip from the Paris chase sequence in "The Rise of Cobra," an exclusive Webisode documenting the visual effects approval process on the film--offering first glimpses at new visual effects shots--plus Stephen's USC student film "Perfect Alibi" in its entirety, an interview with the director, and behind-the-scenes looks at all of his past films.

We've also got photos from the above-mentioned press conference in Sydney which was attended by Sommers, producer Lorenzo di Bonaventura and cast members Channing Tatum, Sienna Millar, Marlon Wayans and Rachel Nichols. You can view those by clicking here or on the photo below!

Snorkllz... you're a dip ****. Wow you mean a summer movie might be corny? And I bet you saw Transformers too. Yeah that wasn't corny. Dumb ass.

Will it be great, like Iron man. Now way. But it cant possibly be worse than Transformers 2.

Posted by: Skid5jack on July 20, 2009 at 12:21:19

In all seriousness. This film will be much better recieved than Transformers 2 by reviewers but wont gross anywhere near as much.

I don't think it looks all bad for a popcorn flick

NeoSamauri will be along momentarily to poo-poo this movie and tell you how it could never really happen. But, he does like the flashy costumes and call-signs...those are real! Sadly though, all the flashy cosutmes and cool call-signs will not impress him and he will suggest that this movie is poorly made, and that there is no excuse for shoddy workmanship! Further, he will suggest that just because this is a "summer" movie or a "popcorn" movie does not mean that we, the movie going puplic, should not expect more! (on this point he will be vague - more what? I don't know...more explosions? more cheesy one-liners? more gorgeous women in tight leather? more martial arts - no matter how CGI enhanced they might be?). Just wait, any minute now...

that clip was ridiculous lol in a good way

Ripfart

I think what he means is that the movie going public should desire an intelligent plot, decent story telling and character deveopment instead of just relying on shiny explosions and throw away one liners (along with robots and/or animals humping away every 5 minutes).

Just finished the adapted novel for this movie--surprising, it was actually better than I expected... I do suggest people to give this a chance... The accelerator suit isn't even the main focus of this movie (It only appears in the training and Paris scene of the movie- and it isn't even in the "grand finale").

I am a avid comic reader of larry hama's comics from the 80's... Granted this story is different (from a different era 80's is a whole different world from now)... It still rings G.I. Joe to me... But again, I guess it cannot please everybody...

I only suggest you all to give this movie a chance...

whoa whoa when did gi joe become frackin' shakespear? iis a movie based off a toy!!! why do all you idiots think this has to be the next gone with the wind? i have been a joe fan since the 80's and the cartoon was just as corney but the movie has to be seriuos? its all about sell more toys to YOUR kids now just live with it and go have a good time at the movies because arent they there to take you away from real life for while anyway???

Posted by: Christopher Walken on July 20, 2009 at 13:13:54

I have sadly seen this movie, and the only way it is better than Transformers 2, is it's shorter so there is less to suffer through. It is worse than Van Helsing and Mummy 2 combined.

Posted by: wiersma on July 20, 2009 at 13:20:02

OK everyone, anyone who played with GI Joes as a kid raise your hands...good, ok. Now what kind of stuff did you make your GI Joes do? Was it jumping from sky stryker to rattler in midair to difuse a bomb, maybe you had them racing up walls of your bedroom because you decided that they had somehow come up with some sort of magical "space shoes", or maybe hanging on for dear life from the skids of the Joe helicopter, only to drop down through the spinning blades of the cobra f.a.n.g, , and MISS...only to drop neatly and conveniently into the waiting turret of a h.i.s.s tank, take out the driver, who also has a bomb and space shoes, to save the day and come out on top the American hero. Remember these things when you watch this movie, suspend your disbelief for a few hours and just go to enjoy it for what it is. The last thing we want is a Joe movie where its two hours of discussing the pros and cons of the nato arms pact agreement. oh, and.... 18th!!!!

Boring

Posted by: Really on July 20, 2009 at 13:49:52

@ Kellen Really? See, when I attend a movie of this genre I EXPECT shiny explosions. If I want to watch a movie with an "intelligent plot, decent story telling and character deveopment," I go to something like Frost/Nixon, Milk, or The Curious Case of Benjamin Button - I certainly don't expect those attributes from a movie like G.I.Joe! What I expect is to be entertained and amused for several hours, I expect to spend $15 on popcorn and a soda, I expect to be wowed by explosions and CGI stunts, I expect to impressed by some of the actors "attributes". I'm all for intelligent, character driven fare - I just don't expect it from the movies that this site reports on (not to say that some of them aren't or that some of them won't surprise, I just don't EXPECT it). Really.

SNAKE EYES IS A BADASS!!!!!

Posted by: SJ on July 20, 2009 at 14:10:30

I know its been awhile since I have seen GI JOE, but where these accelerator suit even in the cartoon? Someone said they arent going to be the focus, which is good, but still, did the idea come from the comic or cartoon, or are they made for the movie?

So far that is my biggest turn off from the movie.
