what?

Posted by: P-Dub on June 17, 2009 at 12:13:30

Having been a G.I.Joe fan since its inception in 1982 (I actually remember the TV commercials for issue #1 of the Marvel Comic Book), I may have a little more perspective than others on this movie. Reading the old Marvel comics from the 1980's reminded me of the fact that the 'Joe team was always cutting edge in technology--so the criticisms that this version is too sci-fi may be unfounded. Over the years the 'Joe team even included international members from England, Russia, Japan and other countries. The only thing that still gives me pause are those acceraltor suits. I'm hoping that ultimately the team tries them and throws them to side, recognizing that they don't need no stinkin' suits to be a real hero.

@ P-Dub
wouldn't the "acceraltor" suits be the use of cutting edge technology?

You're the type of person that can ruin a movie. lol. Crying about how the movie never sticks to the original TOO BAD SUCK IT UP AND WATCH IT WITH AN OPEN MIND.

not bad still looking forward to this movie

Posted by: Shulk on June 17, 2009 at 12:36:38

CoryL- If you actually read and could understand what P-Dub said, you would know that he is going in with an open mind since the only thing that is 'giving him pause' is the accelerator suits. Doesn't seem line whining to me. Seems more like giving some perspective for those who were not around when the comic book started up. Seems like you are the one with the faulty mind in this scenario.

I am expecting a good popcorn flick, hopefully I will be pleasantly surprised.

I really hope the movie ends with them all standing in a circle and cracking a corny joke, then all laughing, then knowing is half the battle skits while credits roll.

The ONLY thing about this movie which looks good so far and might make me want to see it is:

1) Ray Parks as Snake Eyes (Darth Maul btw)
2) The fact that Snake Eyes does NOT seem to have one of those Acceleration suits

Hm. For the first time I'm actually somewhat excited.

I'm hoping to be proven wrong as well, but with all the recent rumors about Sommers and Bonventura getting fired because the film is utmost crap, I'm not holding my breath.

Posted by: Captain Squiggle on June 17, 2009 at 13:17:08

wow this film looks s**t this film joins the long line of films that the 'almighty united states of america' saves the world, the idea is crap and this film will not break even and will most certainly triumph at the rasberrys

Posted by: CoolBreeze303 on June 17, 2009 at 13:26:16

@Captain Squiggle

And what is so wrong with The United States saving the world? You may talk all this crap now, but I bet your still going to see it.

Withholding judgment about the movie overall. It could be just fine. But some of the cgi doesn't look complete yet. I mean, some of it looked like a computer simulation, or something of that sort.

Posted by: Timstuff on June 17, 2009 at 13:45:18

This movie is looking pretty cool. I loved the cartoons and I loved the Mummy movies (well, except the third which Sommers had nothing to do with), so this should be right up my alley. Between this and Transformers, this summer should be quite awesome on the toy-to-movie front.

Posted by: Old Greg on June 17, 2009 at 13:52:57

I really hate the excelerator suits! I hope the movie turns out better than its looking right now! I really want to like it!

Posted by: The Tick on June 17, 2009 at 14:17:24

I really want to give this movie a chance but if those accelerator suits piss me off I really don't know what I am going to do but it will not be pretty...the last time I tried to keep an open mind on a movie it was DBZ...er DBE??? And boy was I pissed

Posted by: My Left NUT on June 17, 2009 at 14:19:39

Wow, This is really a bad summer for movies and That is not GI JOE. Sommers career has ENDED!

Posted by: lordy lordy on June 17, 2009 at 14:40:43

GA GA GAAARBAGE!

Posted by: lordy lordy on June 17, 2009 at 14:43:06

seriously though, young kids that have no taste MAY enjoy this.

likewise, mentally challenged adults could think this is 'fun'.

Posted by: IronFan72 on June 17, 2009 at 14:54:04

Looks great, this is one of the movies of Summer '09 that I am really looking forward to, should be fun.

Posted by: rickrob on June 17, 2009 at 14:54:36

Has any one realized one HUGE contradiction about those STUPID SUITS? RIPCORD, in his accelerator suit, goes after Storm Shadow, who some how manages to escape this innovated technology, he ends up in the SUV with the Baroness. Wow! Those suits are really something special. That is why this movie is going to suck, they want to make it so realistic, but somehow an average man gets to escape from a supposed unstoppable technological masterpiece (of ****).

I was never really into GI Joe as a kid, but it looks like some mindless entertainment. That'll do me.

What I would really like to see is a M.A.S.K. movie :D Oh. My. God.

Posted by: jaysly on June 17, 2009 at 16:10:06

wow. this looks like big time crap. im sure i will see it but i am entitled to say that it looks...from this ...like a total crapfest. i am 34 . i also ws there when g i joe came along in the early eighties. nothing about this reminds me of that. i dig re invention and moving forward...but not crapping all over somthing. Mostley its those way to dorky suits.why make these dudes run around in crappy plastic suits? what a horrible idea. the cool thing about g i joe was everyone was unique and everyond had a speciality. evryone looked and was different...anyway...thats my thaughts. its looking highly suspect
