Mars Troopers? Is Cobra even in the Rise of Cobra?

Posted by: Leo Jussila on January 2, 2009 at 02:10:54

Hurms... This movie could really suck, or it could be really cool... im hoping for the latter.

I cant believe these retards are going to ruin g.i.joe

Posted by: Joe Fan on January 2, 2009 at 05:23:20

Do you guys even know anything about G.I. Joe? These look exactly like I.G. Troopers before Cobra was formed.

Learn your Joe history before you talk Ish.

Cause knowing is half the battle.............

Posted by: Lawrence on January 2, 2009 at 07:19:31

hmm....this movie will do just fine... since Stephen Sommers is a proven action director

What the hell are "M.A.R.S" troopers??

Posted by: speedracer216 on January 2, 2009 at 08:27:54

meh

Posted by: Commander on January 2, 2009 at 08:34:54

Sweet! It's 2009 now, and the G.I.Joe hype begins.

Posted by: dmond24 on January 2, 2009 at 08:52:25

"M.A.R.S" is Destro group he sell troop services and arms to Cobra

Posted by: shadowbat69 on January 2, 2009 at 09:28:59

Its really hard to tell anything from this pic. You cant even make out any details of the helmet and mask, but from just this, it almost looks like the Iron Grenadier helmet. Which would make sence because M.A.R.S. is Destros organization.

Posted by: Ironfan72 on January 2, 2009 at 09:31:22

Can't really see much, but there is some resemblence to Cobra Trooper and Cobra Officer in the way the helmets look and the red and black face mask.
As for them being called MARS Troopers, Cobra was always called Cobra, MARS troopers are Iron Grenadiers, Destros own army, not Cobra Commanders army.
I've been watching and following GiJoe since the very first TV movie in the 80's, beleive me, Cobra Troopers were never called MARS Troopers.
It's possible they changed things in one of the many comic re-boots, but it was never part of the animated or early comic history.

Well gentlemen, it has begun. 2009...The year with all the crappy movies, with one exception...Wolvie. G.I. Joe is going to finish the summer with shyte.

Posted by: tedmcginley on January 2, 2009 at 10:27:09

meh...not impressed. As a lifelong Joe fan I am becoming more and more disenchanted with this film. I'll still see it and keep my expectations bottom-of-the-ocean low and hope I am pleasantly surprised, but no question this movie is going to underachieve.

Posted by: cw2k1 on January 2, 2009 at 12:13:04

It's like a cross between the Iron Grenadiers and Cobra Viper troopers. I'm guessing though that blue trooper is the standard Cobra/M.A.R.S grunt while the red model is of the Cobra Crimson Guard variety.

This movie needs more Alley Vipers. They were the ish....and for the love of god...SHOW US ZARTAN DAMMIT!

Speaking of Zartan...has there been any announcements, rumors, or photo on whether or not Firefly is gonna be in this? I figured he'd have at least a bit part considering his huge past with Snake Eyes and Storm Shadow...

I'm not digging most of the costume designs for the movie...but I'm in no way giving up hope. I hated the initial designs for X-Men, Batman Begins and Spider-Man as well, and those actually turned out to be great films that made sense from a costume design standpoint.

The vision of this story works for me, but these pictures are crap!

@cw2k1

I agree wholeheartedly. Fanboys are waaaay too quick to bash something based solely on things like costume design. The movie doesn't come out till August, people! At least wait for a trailer before you start whining like little schoolgirls.

I had confidence in this move until all the joes appeared to be dressed the same and Storm Shadow had this coat/ninja gi thing going on. Oh well, at least they got Transformers right.

I'm just wishing and hoping that Sgt. Slaughter will be in the film.
