Nicolas Cage Talks Ghost Rider 2, Kick-Ass

During an interview for his new action bonanza Bangkok Dangerous, Oscar-winner and perennial strange-on-screen-hairdo connoisseur Nicolas Cage let slip about a few of his upcoming comic book films.
First up, he discussed a sequel to last year's Columbia Pictures and Marvel release, Ghost Rider.
Cage: Yes, actually, had a nice meeting with the studio about 3-months ago, and we talked about going international with that character. Taking him into Europe, having him go on a motorcycle tour through Europe, and he's connected with the church, if you can believe that. So it sort of has elements to it that are very much in the zeitgeist, with "The Da Vinci Code" and things like that.
Cage also discussed working with Matthew Vaughn (Stardust) on the adaptation of Mark Millar's comic series Kick-Ass, which is about a kid who always wanted to be a superhero.
Cage: As I continue working in film I want to try to keep it as organic and honest as possible, and I am that kid. I’m the kid that would dress up like a superhero, sneak out of the house at 10 o’clock at night, jump around pretending I was fighting crime. It was a good match because it's definitely sincere. I play a guy named Damon, the father of Mindy who is "Hit Girl" and I'm "Big Daddy," and I'm training my daughter to be a superhero.

Feels Like My Skull's on fire, but I'm good.
Should they really do a sequel?

hm..I'd rather see Marvel Studios do a R rated reboot of Ghost Rider than a sequel. The first one wasn't that bad but it wasn't Ghost Rider to his full potential

Glad I stopped a firster! Though I must admit I was tempted to do it myself.
And yeah... they should wait do a reboot with a different younger actor and make it a R rated flick.
"My names Joe (click click) this is what I do."
-Cage's latest movie cheesy line.

With all the money that TDK is making, they'll probably bet on a darker Ghost Rider...and that would be good!

We need a darker Ghost Rider, with good villains this time.

Sequel?? Does Mr. Cage realize that Ghost Rider sucked monkey balls?
Posted by: Martin Manhunter on September 3, 2008 at 16:50:20
man i really want to love it...
nic cage in leaving las vegas was amazing... i like his enthusiasm overall, and he even named his kid Kal...
but really, he should leave Ghost Rider alone.
they should restart this in a few years, and make it DARK DARK DARK.

Awesome another Ghost Rider movie!!! Maybe this time they will actually put Vengeance and Scarecrow in it! How much ass would that kick?

It wasn’t that bad of a movie. I watched it the day it came out on dvd and then here about a week ago. Still thought it was a good time. Could’ve been a lot worse!!
Maybe they'll take the sequel into darker territory now that he knows his power.

they should do a live action Teen Titans movie and cast him as Cyborg. or robin.

Sorry guys, Marvel Studios said they are not going to make R rated movies.
I don't mind them doing a sequel, the first one was OK.
I just think it's unfair that Ghoast Rider gets a sequel while Daredevil doesn't. They are about the same quality, but Daredevil had the bigger potential.

I wouldn't mind another Ghost Rider but it would need a better writer and director.

i second a daredevil sequel.

teen titans movie - Cyborg played by Ben Affleck

I don't think Ghost Rider's produced by Marvel so yes it can be R like Punisher Warzone will br R.

Cloak & Dagger movie - starring Ben Affleck as Cloak, and Matt Damon as Dagger. file it under M for all Male cast...

Ghost Rider was Pure ****! Marvel needs to buy back properties like spider-man, daredevil, ghost rider, and punisher so they can be done right (like iron man-- not the Hulk). Among other things wrong with Ghost Rider, Blackheart was lame (it's just Wes Bentley with black eyes!) and Mephisto was Old man Fonda. Gimme an R- rated Ghost Rider with Blackheart looking the way he does in the comics and people actually being incinerated by Ghost Rider!

ya Ghost Rider gets a 'C' in film class. you're grounded young man...whoa what? just HOW OLD ARE YOU mr Cage?
maybe you will have better luck in the Teen Titans movie.

i think i liked Daredevil better than Ghost Rider.
i think that says alot, too...
Posted by: ItsMeTrev on September 3, 2008 at 17:10:44
Ghost Rider is more marketable then Daredevil.
Ben "Im awful" Affleck's name would make the movie bomb. Give it to Matt Damon
Posted by: FoxCheatsWB on September 3, 2008 at 17:12:17
sorry Matt Damon is already playing Dagger, apparently. plus, he's a terrible actor.

Just say "HELL NO!" to Ghost Rider 2! If you ask me the 1st one is one of the WORST movies ever made!
I agree with an R-Rated re-boot! Dan Katch story line, NO Nick Cage!

I'd love to see Nic back for GR2, and I agree with the other posters, if it were darker it would be more suited to the character.

so then big daddy is hit girl's dad?
the movie news is spoiling the comic before it even comes out, if that's the case.
Posted by: stonedman on September 3, 2008 at 17:22:35
ghost rider wasnt the best but it wont the worst comic film ever. they should of done a daredevil sequel years ago though. i really enjoyed the directors cut to it
