Exclusive New Astro Boy Images!
Source:Summit Entertainment
September 1, 2009

Superhero Hype! has your exclusive first look at the action-packed gladiator sequence from Summit Entertainment's Astro Boy, opening in theaters on October 23. In the sequence, Astro Boy is forced to fight an array of fearsome battlebots, including the towering Battlebot Samaurai (first photo). During the fight, Astro Boy discovers incredible powers for the first time.

Created with CG-animation from Imagi Studios, Astro Boy is a thrilling tale of a true hero. Set in futuristic Metro City, the film is about a young robot with incredible powers created by a brilliant scientist named Dr. Tenma (Nicolas Cage). Powered by positive "blue" energy, Astro Boy (Freddie Highmore) is endowed with super strength, x-ray vision, unbelievable speed and the ability to fly. Embarking on a journey in search of acceptance, Astro Boy encounters many other colorful characters along the way. Through his adventures, he learns the joys and emotions of being human, and gains the strength to embrace his destiny. Ultimately learning his friends and family are in danger, Astro Boy marshals his awesome super powers and returns to Metro City in a valiant effort to save everything he cares about and to understand what it means to be a hero.

Astro Boy also features the voices of Kristen Bell, Nathan Lane, Bill Nighy, Eugene Levy, Matt Lucus and Donald Sutherland.

remember basement tenants, not every movie is made for your age range.

@Joseph

Anyone with functioning eyes can see that it plainly does. It looks quite faithful in fact. The style is spot on.

This movie WILL be better than the Dragon Ball movie. I can't believe that I rented that even after the guy working at Blockbuster told me not to.

......On Blu Ray at that......

The way this looks makes me believe an animated Megaman movie might be neat.

Posted by: Anton Ego on September 1, 2009 at 16:22:04

I have to admit that I'm actually starting to get interested in this.

Posted by: Bob on September 1, 2009 at 16:37:54

I think it looks pretty good. Not too familiar with the character, but the art direction in that movie makes me interested.

Posted by: Uchiro on September 1, 2009 at 17:11:31

I'm with Dom, a CG Megaman movie would be sweet!

With Disney buying Marvel Entertainment I'm holding out hopes we get some Disney/Pixar/Marvel films too!

I hope this movie bears no resemblance to the source material.

I havent been interested enough to check THAT out in my thirty years, but one comercial for this looks like a lot of fun. Less nerds in the theater means less groans I have to hear sitting through a flick.

Dunno much about the source material - curious to see how this turns out and the comparion that's drawn from it.

i think the first pic with the bot with saw's as hands looks better than astro boy.

Posted by: GK1 on September 1, 2009 at 21:25:36

the fact he will be clothed most of the movie disturbs me.

the fact that THAT disturbs me disturbs me ever more.

these images are sick. getting more excited with everything I see from this film.

Didn't every attempt at an Astro Boy cartoon or series fail eventually? I think cartoon network tried it like three times.... This movie is gonna suck as bad as that picture I saw of the Hulk posing with Mickey Mouse... (If only I had a clip)

gorgeous stills. got high hopes for this.
