The Dragonball Scans Continue

DBtheMovie has posted more magazine scans of characters from 20th Century Fox's upcoming Dragonball movie, opening in theaters on April 10, 2009. Included are photos of Justin Chatwin as Goku, Emmy Rossum as Bulma, Chow Yun-Fat as Master Roshi, Joon Park as Yamcha and Jamie Chung as Chi-Chi. They come from the July 7th issue of Japan's Roadshow magazine.

Wow, I have to say I am very mixed about this movie, I was very aprehensive when it all began, but now, kind of warming up to this making the show realistic thing, but at the same time just worried it turns into a DOA fiasco. In any case, here's hopping it turns out good, and here's hopping for Piccolo to be revealed soon.

I knwo everyone has nothing but mad hate for this but they don't look too bad if your modernizing it to live action. I mean some stuff on the dragonball cartoon may look stupid live action wise.

this movie is loosely based on dragonball. i hope someday a closer adaptation would be made.

I've never been into Dragonball, but I took a look at the scans.
Emily Rossum is cute.

Jamie Chung as Chi-Chi, however?

Hmm I know goku's hair was crazy big in the anime but they should tone it down at least a bit in the movie. Or make it shorter. Cause justin chatwin's hair bothers me like that, haha.
I mean cmon, if they gave Master Roshi hair surely they can do something a bit different to Goku's. But I guess still images won't do it justice. We'll need to see a teaser/trailer soon.

I hope it dosn't turn into a Mortal Combate type of movie but since I have been a fan for many years not matter how bad it might be I will still pay to see this movie when it comes out.

they are making the same mistake every terrible comic book or animation story transfered to film makes and that is not grounding it in reality. Did you look at Goku's hair? RIDICULOUS! This is why Batman Begins and Iron man rock and things like Speed Racer and the Fantastic Four suck

horatiorome, first of all, its not DBZ or "BDZ" as you put it, it's Dragonball. Secondly, the people who are saying positive things about these scans are aware that a movie like this won't hurt the franchise that ended quite a while ago. If you and other people who condemn this movie on such a ritualistic basis have so much beef against it, then don't see it when it comes out. Dragonball, DBZ and GT are all out on dvd. Get those if you don't want to see the movie. Personally, the scans look pretty good to me; especially Yamcha. He looks kickass! He was always my favorite character in the anime and they're giving him a nice look for the movie! Really looking forward to seeing this!

I'd much rather they had spent the time and money on adapting Rurouni Kenshin, a real anime, that would have been a better choice. Especially if they followed the tone of the OVAs.

Other anime/manga adaptations that would/could rock would be:

Elven Lied
The Vision of Escaflowne
Neon Genesis Evangelion

Dragonball is far too outrageous to ever translate well on live action. Which according to what I've seen thus far is shaping up to be true.

I agree with Vex 100%. This movie will without a doubt, suck. There are far more animes out there that would translate well into live action, given the right script. A live action Golgo 13 would be nice.

Fox should've put all their energy into making a DBZ anime not live action hell I probably could've said even CGI this is gonna be bad!!! And not bad meaning good but bad meaning BAD!!!
