UPDATE: We've added a higher-resolution scan thanks to the two sites below!

Both DBtheMovie and the Dragon Ball Movie Blog alerted us to this scan taken from a Japanese magazine showing the first image of Justin Chatwin as Goku in Fox's Dragonball movie. Written and directed by James Wong, the big screen adaptation is scheduled for an April 10, 2009 release. James Marsters, Jamie Chung, Emmy Rossum, Eriko Tamura, Joon Park, Chow Yun-Fat, Texas Battle, Randall Duk Kim and Ernie Hudson co-star.

Interesting. I was hoping to see him in a Gi outfit, but whatever. It's still news. I hope to god his performance will be bearable at the very least.

Goku isn't Asian, he's Saiyan. It don't matter who plays the character. Hell, no one even looks asian in the anime, except few characters...

WHat is Wrong with you PEOPLE you know this is based on the time when goku was a kid in the first place and 2nd This is a actualy time when he was 18 he was skinny and wasn't mist SUPER SAIYAN that he is in DBZ be was small still strong but wasn't ripped so shut up he looks fine. Oh and for muscle bound JACK A$$ES i have seen and 250 pound man taken down by a 130 pound teen so size has nothing to do with it. If you dont want to see it then DONT stop BEING A$$ES AND SHUT UP

hahaha, i definitely agree with "god you people". goku was skinny towards the end of DB, and did not get his muscle mass until DBZ. actually, he was a little chunky kid most of the series. you know, a lot were begging for this movie for years and now that it is FINALLY in production i have seen nothing but criticism towards this movie. for shame. KEEP THE FAITH.

Learn to use proper grammar and sentence structure. That, coupled with your horrid spelling, makes taking anything you said seriously extremely tedious.

This, much like every other "mainstream" adaptation of anime, will make decent money on name recognition alone, but will fall short in quality. I'll pass, unless of course someone I know rents it, but even then I will reserve my right to not waste two hours of my life on this.

When i first heard that Dragonball was going to be made into a movie i was kinda excited because i was a fan of the Dragonball Z cartoons but as soon as i heard it was going to be a live action movie i got this disgusting feeling in my stomach.

I have a gut feeling this is going direct to DVD and if it does hit the theatres it might be a limited realease and a couple of weeks later straight to DVD.

No true Dragonball fan would be caught watching this in the theatres (which i doubt it would be shown in the movie theatres)and no true Dragonball fan would spend money for the DVD when it hits DVD. Only way i would ever see this turd of a movie is when it is shown on cable tv.

then again you have many asians behind production on this so i'm not sure if it was all hollywood who made the casting calls on this or not. plus over in some of the asian countries, you see many asians who worship the western features.

boy, i gotta say i hate dragon ball sooooo much! and i dont have a doubt in my mind that this movie is gonna suck ass! but i still wanna see it for some reason because in the back of my head i have this suspicion it will be awesome. i might be wrong though.

How about we be intelligent about this and not make any assumptions about the movie until we see a trailer or the actual movie? It might actually be freakin' sweet...so I'm going to keep an open mind so I don't eat my words later...

I absolutely HATE Dragonball, and anything to do with it, but I know enough to realise this guy looks nothing like the Goku in the show. So it rather pleases me that something I have such strong, negative feelings for is being treated so badly.
