The Dark Knight: For Your Consideration
Source:Superhero Hype!
November 11, 2008
Warner Bros. Pictures has launched a "For Your Consideration" website for The Dark Knight which includes the full script for the film!
In related news, Variety says the major of an oil-producing city in southeastern Turkey named "Batman" is suing director Christopher Nolan and Warner Bros. for royalties from The Dark Knight.
Huseyin Kalkan, the pro-Kurdish Democratic Society Party mayor of Batman, has accused the film's producers of using the city's name without permission.
"There is only one Batman in the world," Kalkan said. "The American producers used the name of our city without informing us."
We wish him the best of luck. More details here.
Also, The Dark Knight has reached a worldwide total of $997.6 million ($528.6 million domestically, $469 million internationally) and should be able to cross the $1 billion mark with the re-release in January.

Sounds like Turkey is having some money problems. This should be a lesson to tell the people of 'Wolverine', 'Watchmen' and the city of "Captain America:The First Avenger" before they sue.

LOL now i think all the turkies around the world just gobblin and minding their own buisness should be suing Turkey for using their name without giving proper royalties. Will someone please stand up for the turkies for a change?

Wow, after you actually read that article the Mayor is evening trying to go as far as linking rising female suicide rates with the success of 'The Dark Knight'. If Turkey even gets a single dime of even settlement money, I'll be upset.

"The Mayor is EVEN trying.." ...which would be the proper eff'n way to say that sentance.

HAHAHAHHAHAHA !!!
So they haven't noticed a 60 year old character until now ? Such a pathetic way to cash in.

hm...with movies like W, Milk, Changeling, Apaloosa and Doubt coming out, I doubt that The Dark Knight will win Best Picture. IMO, it has its best chances in Best Supporting Actor and all of the technical awards

I wish i could sue anything and everything that makes money for the hell of it. I could sue WB for using my air to breath making their movies. Wouldnt that be aweseome! I MEAN COME ON!
Seriously though people are complete retards now. Any way they can make money they go for it. Too bad batman has been around almost 100 years now and just because one movie makes bank you realise it all of a sudden? Sorry DC owns rights the character name "batman" and its not based off the city so your out of luck. Gotham is a real city too and DC owns rights to that name as well, yet tehy are not complaining.

"Any names or likenesses are purely coincidental" They won't even get to court!
And it's been 69 years, not a hundred.
Good try though!

my god! you know what? my last name is Parker... maybe i should sue Sony for not asking for my consent before using it on the 3 major Spider-man films
you see how stupid it sounds lol
(honestly, my last name isn't parker but i wouldn't mind sueing Sony for ruining Venom.... damn it)

dark knight is so over-rated. it really isn't that great. joker was fun but the movie wasn't even about him. batman 3 should be at least half an hour shorter with three times as much action.

Gee..biggest grossing movie of the year gets sued. Funny how in the 1st film this never came up.
