The Dark Knight to Set Blu-ray Shipping Record
Source:Video Business
November 7, 2008

Warner Home Video's The Dark Knight is expected to ship more than 1 million Blu-ray Disc units to retail for its Dec. 9 street date, which is believed to be a first for the format.

Video Business says earlier in the quarter, Paramount Home Entertainment said its Iron Man sold 500,000 Blu-ray copies in its first week on shelves, but it's unclear how many units the studio shipped.

For much of the past year, Blu-ray copies averaged 5% to 10% of a title's sales. Recent features, including Warner's Speed Racer and Journey to the Center of the Earth reached more than 10%, and Universal Studios Home Entertainment's The Incredible Hulk hit more than 14%.

Iron Man's Blu-ray version represented as much as 30% of sales at some retailers, though overall it was closer to 10%.

Too bad I don't have a Blu-ray player. :(
However, I'll definitely get the DVD version when it comes out.

The Dark Knight is the top selling Blu-ray already. It hasn't even been released yet but every week it gets more preorders than any available tittle except for the first two weeks Iron Man was out and the first week The Incredible Hulk was out.

sweeeeeeetttt

Of course! The movie was great! But in light of this coming recession, it is funny that they are still predicting such a huge turnout.
Wiser purchases would be video games. They are more interactive than dvds are, and can be played multiple times with different outcomes. Especially fighting and sport games.
Seriously guys you are going to feel the crunch soon!

Man, that is amazing that The Dark Knight will sell over 1 Million Blu-ray DVD copies I am going for the 3-disc DVD right now, and when I get a blu ray DVD player I will buy The Dark Knight, Ironman and The Incredible Hulk all on Blu-ray disc. Plus, I plan to buy Batman Begins, Superman Returns, Spiderman 3 all there earlier superhero projects that came out years ago. I saw Spiderman 3 on Blu-Ray disc and the film looks amazing. I wonder how Ang Lee's Hulk film looks on Blu-Ray I will have to buy it to find out.

Posted by: M. Bison on November 7, 2008 at 18:38:48

MakeMineMarvel, would you agree that The Incredible Hulk was the best action based film of 2008 and The Dark Knight the best story based film in 2008. I agree Ahhahahahahahahahahh!!! ha ha haaaaaaaaaa!!! And I thought my jokes were bad. Heath Ledger The Joker 1979-2008 R.I.P We will all miss you Heath Joker was your best performance since Jack Nicholson's Joker in 1989 opposite Michael Keaton and Christian Bale opposite yourself.
