The Graysons are Coming to The CW
October 1, 2008
The CW is developing a series based on Batman sidekick Robin's pre-Caped Crusader days, reports Variety.
"Smallville" executive producers Kelly Souders and Brian Peterson, as well as "Supernatural" executive producer McG, are behind "The Graysons," which has landed a put pilot commitment at the network.
Just as "Smallville" focuses on Clark Kent in the years before he became Superman, "The Graysons" will follow the world of Dick "DJ" Grayson before he takes on the iconic Robin identity and aligns himself with Batman.
"The Graysons" is seen as a potential replacement for "Smallville" should that show end its run this season, which has been speculated. Should "Smallville" return next year, "The Graysons" might also make a strong companion piece.
In the one-hour "Graysons," which will be set in modern times, young DJ will face challenges involving first loves, young rivals and his family as he grows up. Souders and Peterson have come up with an original take on the character.

Young DJ? Sounds lame.
If they wanted to modernize it, just make The Graysons part of Cirque du Soleil.

*sigh* jesus christ.

This sounds pretty lame. Who cares about Robin growing up? Who will his arch-nemesis be I wonder? Oh, no! It's...PUBERTY!!!

What a strange idea for a television show. And it's called "The Graysons?"
I think it's lame. Just a bad idea.

Hollywood is obsessed with YOUTH!!! I've said it before and will continue to do so! He has little to offer until he is Batman's protege under his tutelage.

WHY? This is the worst idea I have ever heard of. If we really need a comic tv show to replace smallville let's aim a little higher. Just skip the prepubescent **** and make a show called Bludhaven. Do the show about life after Robin instead of before. I promise it would be a helluva lot better.

intersting!
this outta hold over those Robin fans that want him in the Nolan films

I have a bad feeling about this. I could be wrong and this could be a good show, so I'll check out at least the first season, but I can safely say it'd have been much better for them to do a show depicting Bruce Wayne's days leading up to him becoming Batman, with the show largely being about his younger days as Batman, and him growing into the detective he ultimately becomes. I'm hoping that they do justice with this show at least. Robin's not a bad writer depending upon who that writer is, so maybe this take will make him a bit more interesting.

Why cant they use the name Richard Grayson instead of "****" Grayson?
Posted by: Darkman on October 1, 2008 at 01:37:05
I'd ask how long the show could run but then again who saw Smallville running this damn long? My bet is that if they do make The Grayson's it lasts about half a season then kaputski

so let me get this straight, they plan on green lighting this but they sunk the aquaman series (which i found enjoyable and had a much better premise than this)

oh for the lack of god.
That i so horrible, yet so hillarious.

Um if they honstely want a Batman type show why don't they just bring back Birds of Prey?
Posted by: Luis Francisco on October 1, 2008 at 01:41:54
I still wait for a good Batman TV Show and it seems I still be waiting. Birds of Prey wasn't that bad, but it wasn't something great like Smallville. Also, what can you tell of Grayson before he was Robin. They should developed more that aquaman series, and not only showing that movie.

Effin' A... All I want is to see Bruce Wayne on Smallville. So we get The Graysons? Interesting to say the least. Maybe it'll just end up a hidden gem like the Aquaman pilot. Maybe it'll be good.
I've never been this torn on a tv show before.

mark my words...this will be a disaster. **** is like 12 when he joins Batman. how old is he gonna be in this show? so stupid

Another teen age angst show covered with a thin veneer of one day possibly having some connection to the DC Universe. Way to raise the bar and explore uncharted territory CW....pass

hahahah D I C K was blanked out!! its his name!
Posted by: Static on October 1, 2008 at 01:47:06
I would rather telling the story of a teen Bruce, since no one has never done that story and that Al and Miles attempted to do it until the 2005 Batman Begins made their choice to do young Clark Kent.

Sounds aweful.
Posted by: Mills on October 1, 2008 at 01:58:02
I dont hate this idea, but it's hilariously bad they want to call him DJ. There are people in real life named ****, I hope they realize. But I agree with the person who said they should do a show called Bludhaven abought Nightwing.
Posted by: super_brandon on October 1, 2008 at 02:01:07
well the majority of the comments on here is it's a bad idea and I totally agree.
They want to go ahead with this but NOT making a Justice League or Green Arrow series?! Those would be MORE interesting. Nothing against Robin...it just don't sound right to me for some reason.
