Universal Gets Close with Proximity Effect

The Top Cow comic book “Proximity Effect”, created by Roger Mincheff, has had its screen rights picked up by Universal Pictures with Stephen Sommers (“The Mummy”, “Van Helsing”) and Bob Ducsay producing and Mincheff aboard as an executive producer. The script will be written by Jason Rothenberg (“Surrogate”).

The comic is about an ordinary woman who exhibits extraordinary powers, but only when she is within a certain distance of a particular guy.

At this point, it doesn’t look like Sommers will direct the movie, as he is currently working on a movied based on “Flash Gordon” for Universal.
