Sing Street star Ian Kenny joins the Han Solo movie
Sing Street breakout star Ian Kenny (Fair City, 24 Hours to Kill) has just joined the upcoming Star Wars anthology film about Han Solo, according to Variety. The film is currently in production and Disney CEO recently revealed that the film will span a seven-year period, covering Han’s life from ages 18-24. We also learned the movie will reveal the origin of his name, though whether that means his real name is different or if we’re talking about his name in the smuggler’s game, we have yet to figure out.
Ian Kenny will join Alden Ehrenreich, who will star as Han Solo, Donald Glover, who will play Lando Calrissian, Thandie Newton, Phoebe Waller-Bridge, Woody Harrelson, Michael K. Williams, and Emilia Clarke.
The information about Ian Kenny’s character has yet to be revealed. We did recently learn more about another character; the one played by Woody Harrelson. In a recent interview with Jimmy Fallon, he revealed the real name of his Han Solo mentor character. “I play a guy named Beckett who’s kind of a criminal and mentor to Han,” said Harrelson. “That’s all I can say. I’ll be there until the end of July.”
Directed by Phil Lord and Chris Miller, the Han Solo movie story arrives from a screenplay by Lawrence Kasdan and Jon Kasdan. Slated for a May 25, 2018 release, the Han Solo movie will be executive produced by Lawrence Kasdan and Jason McGatlin and co-produced by Will Allegra. We also recently learned that the film will tell us how Han met his Wookie companion Chewbacca.
