Doctor Strange Puts Up Another $40 Million Globally

After two weeks at #1, Walt Disney Pictures and Marvel Studios‘ Doctor Strange, starring Benedict Cumberbatch, dropped to second place at the domestic box office, adding another $17.7 million in its third weekend and down 59% from last week. That brings its domestic total to $181.5 million, meaning it has now passed Captain America: The First Avenger ($176.6), Ant-Man ($180), and Thor ($181) at the domestic box office.

Internationally, Doctor Strange added another $26 million this weekend to bring its global take to $571.5 million, putting it ahead of Ant-Man‘s $519 million total and just on the heels of Iron Man‘s $585.2 million.

Made for $165 million, Doctor Strange was directed by Scott Derrickson and stars Benedict Cumberbatch, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Rachel McAdams, Benedict Wong, Michael Stuhlbarg, Benjamin Bratt, Scott Adkins, Mads Mikkelsen and Tilda Swinton.
