Rob Liefeld’s Avengelyne Sets Up at Paramount with Akiva Goldsman

It seems the runaway success of Deadpool may have paved the way for more Rob Liefeld creations to the screen. According to Deadline, Liefeld and Cathy Christian’s 1995 creation Avengelyne is heading to Paramount Pictures for star writer Akiva Goldsman (Batman & Robin, A Beautiful Mind, The Dark Tower) to produce and potentially direct. Goldsman made his directorial debut on the 2014 dud Winter’s Tale, and has the fantasy horror movie Stephanie coming out next year.

The project began development in 2013, with eventual Deadpool co-star Gina Carano attached to star as the title fallen angel fighting off demons and monsters. The idea at the time was to develop a female-centric action franchise in the vein of the Underworld series.

The current model is to craft something more akin to John Wick with a fallen angel, which sounds essentially like The Crow with a woman (which has already been done). There is currently no actress in line for the role, but keep your eyes peeled to this site for more developments as they come!

Liefeld currently has both Deadpool 2 and the X-Force movie in development at 20th Century Fox.
