Uncover hidden Star Wars messages on the new Rogue One IMAX standee!
Walt Disney Pictures and Lucasfilm have today revealed a special Rogue One IMAX standee that, at this very moment, is on display at IMAX theaters across the country. Not only does the standee include some hidden messages in the Star Wars language Aubresh, it offers fans a chance to win their own private Rogue One IMAX screening! All one must do in order to enter the IMAX contest is to take a selfie in front of one of the standees. Click here for a list of participating IMAX theaters and for contest details.
You can take a look at director Gareth Edwards overseeing the installation of one of the new Rogue One IMAX standees in this week’s episode of The Star Wars Show, viewable in the player below. Some of the Aubresh messages, meanwhile, have already been cracked by the linguists over at ComicBook.com. Though much of the text remains either coded or gibberish, six different lines read as follows:
“Join the Empire”
“Submit to our will”
“All power to the Empire”
“Crush the Rebellion in one swift stroke”
“This station is the ultimate power in the universe”
“There will be no one to stop us this time”
Rogue One: A Star Wars Story tells the tale of resistance fighters who have united to steal plans to the dreaded Death Star. The film takes place before the events of Star Wars: A New Hope.
Felicity Jones (Inferno, The Theory of Everything) leads the cast as Jyn Erso alongside Mads Mikklesen who plays her father, Galen Erso. Diego Luna (Milk) stars as Captain Cassian Andor with Donnie Yen (Ip Man, Blade II) as the blind spiritual warrior Chirrut Imwe, Jiang Wen (Let the Bullets Fly, Devils on the Doorstep) as his heavily armored best friend Baze Malbus,, Alan Tudyk (Firefly) as the droid K-2SO, Riz Ahmed (Nightcrawler, Four Lions) as the Rebel pilot Bodhi Rook, plus Forest Whitaker (The Last King of Scotland) as Saw Gerrera, a character first introduced in Star Wars: The Clone Wars, and Ben Mendelsohn (Bloodline, Mississippi Grind) as the film’s main antagonist, Director Orson Krennic.
Rogue One: A Star Wars Story is set for release on December 16, 2016.
