Pacific Rim 2 Finds Jing Tian Drift Compatible

Jing Tian has taken a leading role in the Pacific Rim sequel

Jing Tian is the latest name to join the cast of Legendary‘s Pacific Rim sequel. The actress, who is also set to appear in Zhang Yimou’s The Great Wall and Jordan Vogt-Roberts’ Kong: Skull Island, joins a cast that already includes John Boyega, Scott Eastwood and Cailee Spaeny. Boyega is playing the son of Stacker Pentecost, Idris Elba‘s character from the original Guillermo del Toro film.

Pacific Rim 2 will be directed by Steven S. DeKnight (SpartacusMarvel’s Daredevil) based on the world created by Guillermo del Toro and Travis Beacham and from a script by Jurassic World co-writer Derek Connolly. Thomas Tull, Mary Parent, Jon Jashni, and del Toro will produce the action adventure film along with Boyega and Femi Oguns under their Upper Room Productions shingle. Cale Boyter will serve as the film’s executive producer.

The film will be distributed by Universal Pictures around the world with the exception of China.

The original Pacific Rim hit theaters in summer 2013 and grossed $101 million at the domestic box office. It went on to take in over $411 million worldwide. The first one starred Charlie Hunnam, Idris Elba, Rinko Kikuchi, Charlie Day, Robert Kazinsky, Max Martini, and Ron Perlman.

Look for Pacific Rim 2 to begin production this fall in Australia, targeting a February 23, 2018 release date. Before that, though, you can catch Jing Tian in The Great Wall on February 17, 2017 and in Kong: Skull Island on March 10, 2017.
