Back in May, Star Wars: The Force Awakens director J.J. Abrams gave fans their very first look at the set of the much-anticipated franchise sequel via a video designed to promote the charity initiative “Force for Change” and raise money for the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF). That video was followed by a second in July, offering a look at the new film’s X-Wing fighter. Now, a third video has arrived and it features Abrams offering his thanks alongside the gratitude of the entire Episode VII cast and crew (including a few colorful characters from a galaxy far, far away! )Check out the video in the player below, courtesy of Omaze with credit to /Film for bringing it to our attention.
UNICEF’s current network of 14 Innovation Labs help create sustainable solutions to critical issues facing children around the world in the areas of nutrition, water, health, and education. The funds raised through “Star Wars: Force for Change” will impact the lives of children around the world, through projects like MobiStation, a portable, solar-powered educational kit to ensure children have access to quality learning anywhere, and Rapid FTR (Family Tracing and Reunification), a mobile phone application that helps reunite separated and unaccompanied children with their families in natural disasters.
The new film, meanwhile, stars Oscar Isaac, Daisy Ridley, John Boyega, Harrison Ford, Carrie Fisher, Mark Hamill, Anthony Daniels, Peter Mayhew, Kenny Baker, Adam Driver, Andy Serkis, Domhnall Gleeson, Max von Sydow, Lupita Nyong’o, Gwendoline Christie, Crystal Clarke, Pip Anderson, Christina Chong and Miltos Yerolemou. It hits theaters one year from today, on December 18, 2015.
