Fassbender, Weaving Rumored for Star Wars: Episode VII, New Story Details Revealed?

As production gets closer and closer for the upcoming Star Wars: Episode VII, potential casting and plot details will become even more plentiful than they were last year. Yesterday brought the story that “Breaking Bad” star Jesse Plemons is potentially in talks for a role in the film and now a new story at The Hollywood Reporter points to even more names, specifically Michael Fassbender, “Girls” star Adam Driver and Hugo Weaving. Nothing is set in stone, just like the countless other casting rumors for the highly-anticipated film, but Fassbender and Driver could fit the profile for the “military officer” role revealed a few months ago.

The site also points to some new story details for the film, citing Michael Arndt’s departure from the film being over a dispute on the film’s focus. They note that the original draft of the script would have focused on the offspring of Han Solo, Princess Leia and Luke Skywalker, with the original cast taking on supporting roles. Now it appears that director J.J. Abrams wants to make Luke, Leia and Han the focus of the film, giving fans a proper “send off” for the characters before their offspring becoming the focus of future sequels in the franchise.

This all remains unconfirmed at this point as well, but who do you want to see star in Star Wars: Episode VII, and better yet who should it focus on? Check back right here for more news on the anticipated film as we learn it

The new film will be directed by Abrams and is being scripted by Abrams and Kasdan, who previously wrote the franchise’s “Episode V,” The Empire Strikes Back. Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy, J.J. Abrams, and Bryan Burk are producing, with Tommy Harper and Jason McGatlin serving as executive producers. The film will open in 2D and 3D theaters on December 18, 2015.
