Update: The Edge of Tomorrow Twitter account, @EmbeddedUDF, has begun sending out various “messages from the battlefield” including: “The city is filled with barricades, tanks and artillery. UDF Command confident enemy will hit Verdun tomorrow” and “Rumors about the enemy’s lethal abilities are terrifying. Everyone worried whether 10k troops are enough.” Among many other viral tweets the site has added a fourth image which we’ve included below.
Warner Bros. Pictures will debut the first trailer for director Doug Liman’s sci-fi action adventure Edge of Tomorrow online on Wednesday, but first up we’ve got three viral images via the official @EmbeddedUDF Twitter account, which is the film’s war feed from Verdun, France.
The June 6, 2014 release unfolds in a near future in which an alien race has hit the Earth in an unrelenting assault, unbeatable by any military unit in the world.
Lt. Col. Bill Cage (Tom Cruise) is an officer who has never seen a day of combat when he is unceremoniously dropped into what amounts to little more than a suicide mission. Killed within minutes, Cage now finds himself inexplicably thrown into a time loop—forcing him to live out the same brutal combat over and over, fighting and dying again…and again.
But with each battle, Cage becomes able to engage the adversaries with increasing skill, alongside Special Forces warrior Rita Vrataski (Emily Blunt). And, as Cage and Rita take the fight to the aliens, each repeated encounter gets them one step closer to defeating the enemy.
