Chris Pratt Talks Rocket Raccoon in Guardians of the Galaxy

Production recently wrapped on Marvel’s space epic Guardians of the Galaxy and in addition to being mostly set in space, the film will bring on some new characters, one of which is the gun-toting-loud-mouthed Rocket Raccoon. Chris Pratt, who stars in the film as Peter Quill, recently offered a description of the character.

“You think it’s a cartoon character, but it’s not, it’s a very real creature,” Pratt said in an interview with Access Hollywood. ”[Rocket Raccoon has been] tortured his whole life and no one else likes him, so he’s lonely and he’s angry and it’s like, [there are] all these elements [to the character]. You sort of forget about that, you wouldn’t think about, [and] hopefully will come to life. I think it will and that’s why they hired a really good actor to do the role.”

That actor of course is Bradley Cooper of The Hangover fame who will provide the voice of the tiny gunslinger.

“I could not be more excited that Bradley Cooper is voicing Rocket Raccoon,” Pratt said. “It’s a great character. It’s probably the best character in the movie, just because it’s not what you would expect.”

Guardians of the Galaxy features an unlikely cast of characters who must team up in order to defeat a cosmic force of epic proportions. The August 1, 2014 release stars Chris Pratt, Dave Bautista, Zoe Saldana, Rooker, Ophelia Lovibond, Benicio Del Toro, Lee Pace, Karen Gillan, Djimon Honsou, Gregg Henry, Glenn Close and John C. Reilly.
