Homeland’s Navid Negahban Joins Arrow in New Villain Role

E! News has learned that “Homeland” star Navid Negahban has been cast in the upcoming season of The CW’s Arrow as the villain Al-Owal. Owal is a new character to the DC canon, but his name translated from Arabic means “The First.” The character is said to be a member of the League of Assassins, the same group that trained John Barrowman’s Malcolm Merlyn in the series, and which is lead by Ra’s al Ghul in the comic books.

What is even more interesting about this new character and his connection is that he will debut in the fifth episode of the new season, which is titled “The Demon’s Head.” This of course is the translation of “Ra’s al Ghul” from Arabic. Though it hasn’t been confirmed for Ra’s to appear in the TV series, it certainly seems like a possibility now.
