Open Road Pushes Back Machete Kills Release Date

The distributor for Robert Rodriguez’s Machete Kills, Open Road Films, has moved the release of the film from September 13 to October 4, a date that also has Alfonso Cuarón’s Gravity.

This isn’t the first time this has happened this week to Rodriguez as his other upcoming sequel Sin City: A Dame to Kill For was moved from October 4, 2013 to August 22, 2014.

In Machete Kills, Danny Trejo returns as ex-Federale agent Machete, who is recruited by the President of the United States for a mission which would be impossible for any mortal man – he must take down a madman revolutionary and an eccentric billionaire arms dealer who has hatched a plan to spread war and anarchy across the planet.

From a screenplay by Kyle Ward and based on a story by Marcel Rodriguez and Robert Rodríguez, Machete Kills stars Danny Trejo, Michelle Rodriguez, Sofia Vergara, Amber Heard, Charlie Sheen, Lady Gaga, Antonio Banderas, Jessica Alba, Demián Bichir, Alexa Vega, Vanessa Hudgens, Cuba Gooding, Jr., William Sadler, Marko Zaror and Mel Gibson.
