DC Confirms Villain Month for September, Announces Titles

Back in April, it was revealed that DC Comics was planning “Villain Month” this September as a way to celebrate the anniversary of the New 52. DC has now confirmed these plans and officially announced the first slate of titles that will be “taken over” by the bad guys later this year (via Buzzfeed and Bleeding Cool).

“When we launched the New 52 in September of 2011, we decided to do something different and daring each September to draw attention to our line and really focus on what our goals are for the year,” said DC co-publisher Dan Didio. “What we did back in 2011 was relaunch our entire line. In 2012, we went back and looked at all our heroes with Zero Month and told some early stories and origins. This September we wanted to try something a little different and really explore our villain base, and show the challenges our heroes face with every story and every issue, because of the strength of the characters taking over their books in that month.”

DC also announced the first major limited series for the New 52, titled “Forever Evil,” which will focus on the villains of the DC universe and be felt in all of the titles. Dan Didio and co-publisher Jim Lee also teased that one or more of the villain-centric books may continue after the event month has completed.

The pair confirmed that the “major villains” of the DCU will be present for villain month, including The Joker, Lex Luthor, and Darkseid, in addition to several “key” Batman and Superman villains.

Beyond all of the titles being “rebranded” with the villain’s names, each series will feature a “3D Motion cover” especially for the event which you can see examples of below.
