When big budget films such as Iron Man 3 are made, many of the more explosive scenes are thought out in advance and animated to give the filmmakers a better idea of what it will all look like when the process is over. Marvel Studios’ Head Storyboard Artist/Animatics Supervisor Federico D’Alessandro shared this video on YouTube of what the “Mansion Attack” sequence in the film looked like months before filming actually began (via /Film).
Here’s what he has to say about the scene: “I worked on IRON MAN 3 as the Lead Storyboard Artist and Animatics Supervisor, and during that time I created a lot of fun animatics. This was my favorite one, and was translated to the final film pretty closely! If you’d like to see more of my work, including a bunch of my Marvel animatics, please go to my website: www.thefilmartist.com.”
Check out the animatic below, but if you haven’t seen Iron Man 3, spoiler warning! How do you think it compares to the final film? Sound off below.
