Deadline is reporting that “Magic City” actress Elena Satine has joined the pilot for the adaptation of the Oni Press comic series The Sixth Gun. Satine will play the “widow” Missy Hume. The character is described as “a powerful Madame who runs the town of Brimstone kept unnaturally youthful by being in possession of the Fifth Gun. A cold stunningly beautiful woman of great cunning, she is unafraid to use whatever means to collect all Six Guns for her own dark purposes.” Satine is no stranger to playing comic book characters, having played the role of Aquaman’s wife Mera on an episode of “Smallville.”
NBC is producing the show with “LOST” co-creator Carlton Cuse and screenwriter Ryan Condal executive producing. Jeffrey Reiner is directing the pilot. Satine joins Michiel Huisman and Laura Ramsey who have been cast in the two lead roles for the series.
The Sixth Gun, created by Cullen Bunn and Brian Hurtt, is described as follows:
“During the darkest days of the Civil War, wicked cutthroats came into possession of six pistols of otherworldly power. In time the Sixth Gun, the most dangerous of the weapons, vanished. When the gun surfaces in the hands of an innocent girl (Ramsey), dark forces reawaken. Vile men thought long dead set their sights on retrieving the gun and killing the girl. Only Drake Sinclair (Huisman), a gunfighter with a shadowy past, stands in their way.”
