A few months ago, Jeremy Renner spoke about his character in The Avengers and how he wasn’t all too pleased with where Hawkeye was in the film. “At the end of the day, 90% of the movie, I’m not the character I signed on to play. I’m literally in there for two minutes, and then all of a sudden…”
Today, in an interview with MTV News, he said he’ll finally get what’s coming to him in the sequel.
“There’s more opportunities (in the sequel) to explore the characters a litle more, i think for everybody, which I think is exciting.”
But he’s not calling up Joss and telling him where to take the character, “I’d just mess it all up.”
Many of the S.H.I.E.L.D. operatives from The Avengers, including Nick Fury, Maria Hill, and Black Widow, are set to appear in 2014’s Captain America: The Winter Soldier, but Renner is not confirmed to appear.
Marvel’s The Avengers 2 will hit theaters on May 1, 2015, and while the cast is currently unconfirmed, its very likely to again include Robert Downey, Jr., Chris Hemsworth, Chris Evans, Jeremy Renner, Mark Ruffalo, Scarlett Johansson and Samuel L. Jackson.
