Comic-Con: Marvel Video Game Panel Round Up

Marvel started the video panel at the San Diego Comic-Con today by mentioning that 2012 is the 30th year of Marvel video games, the first being Spider-Man for the Atari 2600 in 1982. From there they talked about the newest Amazing Spider-Man game along with the Marvel Super Hero Squad online.

Jumping to new stuff, they brought up the free-to-play Avengers Alliance. They announced all new costumes for Iron Fist, Doctor Strange, Cyclops, Daredevil, and all of the Future Foundation members. Some all new characters will be coming to the game: Magik, Rogue, Tigra, Valkyrie, Emma Frost, Quicksilver, Beast, Gambit and Havok. They also teased Avengers vs. X-Men content that would launch shortly, including new AvX themed costumes for Colossus, Cyclops, Emma Frost, and Magik.

A new trailer for the upcoming Avengers: Battle for Earth video game was shown (expect it online shortly). The Kinect fighting game will feature the likes of Black Widow, Captain America, Doctor Strange, Hawkeye, Hulk, Iron Man, Loki, Magneto, Spider-Man, Storm, Thor, Venom, and Wolverine. There will also be Arcade, Co-op, versus, online and a few more modes of play available.

Switching gears, but keeping to the fighting game motif, they spoke about the upcoming Marvel vs. Capcom Origins download coming soon. The game will combine both the Marvel Super Heroes game and the original Marvel vs. Capcom. We covered the details of that over here, check out the trailer for it below.

Then gameplay and video from the upcoming Marvel Heroes free-to-play RPG was shown. You can see essentially the same thing covered at the panel right here.

After all this, there was a bit of a tussle on stage as Deadpool took over the panel to announce his own video game (which we posted earlier), that trailer will be dropping at the game’s website very soon.
