New Man of Steel Illinois Filming Locations

Two reports from Illinois have come in about filming for director Zack Snyder's Superman movie, Man of Steel, scheduled to hit theaters on June 14, 2013 and starring Henry Cavill, Amy Adams, Diane Lane, Kevin Costner, Michael Shannon, Antje Traue, Russell Crowe, Julia Ormond, Christopher Meloni and Harry Lennix.

MyWebTimes talks about the closing of a bridge the next three days:

For three days, a bridge in La Salle County will be closed while Hollywood works its magic.

A scene from the upcoming "Superman: Man of Steel" movie, some of which is being shot in Plano, will be filmed on the U.S. 52 bridge over the Fox River east of Serena.

Illinois Department of Transportation media spokesman Josh Kauffman said the Warner Brothers production company was given permission and permits to close the bridge and adjacent highway sections for filming… on the span. Kauffman said the route will be reopened by Saturday.

The Kane County Chronicle talks more about the filming that will take place in Sugar Grove:

The stars will be out in Sugar Grove next month, as scenes of Warner Brothers' new film, "Superman: Man of Steel," will be filmed there.

The filming will affect traffic. The Illinois Department of Transportation announced a shutdown of Route 56 from Route 47 to Galena Boulevard starting at 3 p.m. Aug. 7 until 8 p.m. Aug. 10.

Betsy Steinberg, managing director for the Illinois Film Office, said the movie will be filmed in other areas of the state, including in and around Plano, the western suburbs and Chicago, for several days in September.

Motorists will be re-routed during the filming while the roads are shut down.

Vehicles traveling east on Route 30 will exit onto Route 47, and then continue to Galena Boulevard to the Galena access ramp. Route 47 traffic will have to use the Galena access ramp to get onto Route 56.

Westbound traffic on Route 56 will have to exit onto Galena Boulevard to Route 47, then either stay on Route 47, or turn west onto Route 30.
