Warren Ellis' Global Frequency Coming to The CW

Production Weekly tweeted that The CW is again looking to adapt Warren Ellis' comic book "Global Frequency" with Scott Nimerfro ("Pushing Daisies") writing the pilot.

Ellis, himself, reacted to the tweet on his official website:

I haven't been cleared to comment yet, so I can't really add anything to this. I've spoken briefly to Scott Nimerfro — by which I mean I threatened to have him stabbed, and he thanked me and told me a funny story about how he's had worse threats — and he is Okay.

Anyway. Yes. Shouldn't say any more until I get the nod from the studio. But yes.

Mark Burnett and The WB (before it became The CW) previously attempted to adapt the comic in 2005 with Michelle Forbes playing Miranda Zero, Josh Hopkins as Sean Flynn, Jenni Baird as Dr. Katrina Finch and Aimee Garcia as Aleph. The pilot leaked onto the internet in June of 2005 which was reportedly one of the reasons Warner Bros. killed the project.

The following is how WildStorm describes the title:

Miranda Zero, the mysterious leader/benefactor/recruiter of Global Frequency is a woman with a mission. She saves people. She and 1,000 others make up the most diverse team of specialists the planet has ever seen. Their job? To save the world, usually before anyone else notices there's a problem.

"Their job? To save the world, usually before anyone else notices there's a problem."

I thought that was Gary Coleman's job.

Rather see a Planetary adaptation first. Now THAT'S an awesome comic!

Just a question, if it's the Warner Channel, why they call it CW? that sound to me like Civil War... must be WC... hey! I got it... that would mean the programs would be...

Hahahaha

Loved the original pilot and as long as the new series sticks closely to the source material, I'm looking forward to this as well. A really great comic series that would be fantastic on TV.

Produced by Tom Welling and Zac Efron, starring Dawn Ostroff, Paris Hilton and Eric Kripke.

Personally I loved the comic and the pilot episode, it had potential, but hey so did Aquaman with justin hartley, lou diamond philips and ving rhames but hey if it isn't a dawson's creek knock off why would the CW touch it.

Planetary would be a killer series but the fact of all the liscencing needed for all the pop culture referances even though they were knock offs would not make the series possible. I would however love to see it where the eam travels to monster island to see dead carcases of godzilla, gidra and others all while battling against an evil fantastic four alongside the likes of doc savage and the shadow

Pretty sure the original pilot got killed because of a regime change at Warner, not because it leaked onto the internet...

Why is tweeting a form of journalism?
