Marvel Studios has promoted Louis D'Esposito to Co-President of Marvel Studios, the Hollywood subsidiary of Marvel Entertainment, Inc. In this new role, D'Esposito will work alongside Kevin Feige, President of Marvel Studios, to oversee the studio's production schedule as the company continues to produce high-quality films based on Marvel characters. Prior to this promotion, D'Esposito held the role of President of Physical Production of the studio and oversaw the budget and timeline of all Marvel Studios features, including the blockbuster Iron Man. The announcement was made today by Ike Perlmutter, CEO of Marvel Entertainment, to whom D'Esposito will report. Feige and D'Esposito will both have dotted line reporting to Alan Fine, Executive Vice President, Office of the Chief Executive and Chairman of Marvel Studios' Creative Committee.
Feige stated, "I am delighted to have Louis join me as my Co-President in the next chapter of Marvel Studios. He has proven to be an incredible friend and collaborator, and his expertise within the film industry steering the budgetary and operational demands of moviemaking is instrumental in taking our characters from the pages of comic books to the big screen."
"I am honored to lead Marvel Studios alongside Kevin and further our commitment to producing high-quality films," said D'Esposito. "Together with the incredible executive team here at Marvel, I look forward to building upon our success by creating entertaining films for our worldwide audience."
Louis D'Esposito served as executive producer on the blockbuster hit Iron Man as well as its highly anticipated sequel Iron Man 2.
Marvel Studios is currently in production on the highly anticipated sequel Iron Man 2 starring Robert Downey Jr. which will be released in theatres on May 7, 2010. The studio's next feature Thor, starring Chris Hemsworth in the title role, Tom Hiddleston playing Thor's brother Loki, and Natalie Portman as Thor's love interest, Jane Foster, will commence production in early 2010 and be released on May 20, 2011. Other Marvel Studios projects in development include The First Avenger: Captain America scheduled for release on July 22, 2011, and The Avengers on May 4, 2012.

Who ever this new guy is don't let Zak Penn write Avengers the Movie.
Posted by: Man of Tommorrow on November 12, 2009 at 13:38:27
These movies do not go soley off of what a writer writes on paper. That is what alot of fans do not understand about these films. On these films the writer sets up an overall story to be told. The dialogue and stuff like that is changed so much on these films. This includes the Spiderman films, Iron Man and the Incredible Hulk. Sometimes what a writer writes down on paper and imagines for the big screen is not what the final product turns out as.

That is great zak penn is great write and i can,t wait to see ironman 2 and other marvel movies.

I agree. I liked X3 and the Hulk, but Zak Penn is not a good writer. He would crash and burn the Avengers. It would come out like GIJOE. Still fun, but not nearly matching its potential.
Too bad they can't get Roland Emmerich and have the Hulk smash up half the USA.

I wonder who they canned for that position to open up.
Posted by: webhead2006 on November 12, 2009 at 16:28:22
i dont think anyone was canned or we would have heard about it. It looks like they just decided to hire on a co president/vp like position so it would lessen the load work kevin has to do and compared to the other guys ahead of them with marvel and all that.

Zack Penn has allot to answer for ruined XMEN 3, high qulaity filsm hmmm Punisher Warzone is a joke in terms of production and story, same as Manthing what the hell happened there?

Interesting, hope Louis' budgetary expertise doesn't affect/create fiction the way the films are made at the Studio. It is good to read Kevin call him a friend though, so I take it they've not had a major qualm thus far.
Keep makin' ours Marvel!

Hey, Bill what is a geaseball, I think you meant greaseball, you are a ****ing retard.
Posted by: ShadowVoyd on November 13, 2009 at 04:36:28
Honestly, if he proves to be one more voice of reason to check arch-nickel nurser and nit picker David Maisel (notable for the "dumbing down of Incredible Hulk" decision and lowballing both Samuel L. Jackson and Mickey Rourke in initial negotiations for Iron Man 2), then I say hooray.

Zak Penn is indeed awful. His defense for every script he's ever written is "wow. this movie is going to suck." Thats what he said about Elektra, X2 (someone else rewrote it) Hulk (Norton rewrote it), Daredevil, X3. This guy is a turd.
Clearly he has no faith in his own writing abilities. An after the ****fests he's been scribing for the big screen, neither should we.
Posted by: Nave Hayder (TORMENT) on November 15, 2009 at 18:32:51
@ filmstu2005, despite that I keep hearing good things about this guy! Isn't he the one who always messes stuff up, makes them too 'saturday morning cartoon'ish and then just snatches all the glory??! David Hayter (Solid Snake) co-wrote in X1, X2, Hulk and The Watchmen, and those are great screenplays/movies. Of course, the traditional view is to blame the director, or credit the director. Just look at Transformers 2 and Star Trek: Both movies were written by the same guys, but the direction completely made them different films altogether. Never the less, I don't have little faith in Zak Penn. I'm pretty sure the only good bits in X2 that he added were on the last act, i.e. when Stryker kidnaps Xavier and Cyclops and Magneto pulls the switch-a-roo on Cerebro, and maybe Nightcrawler's involvement with Weapon X. Notice anything? All these are taken from Mark Millar's ULTIMATE X-MEN! Just changed here and there to make it screen-worthy! Hayter didn't write those sections (we may assume) since he opted to adapt 'God Loves Man Kills'.
Anyway, nice to see a fellow hater on the boards :)
If I'm wrong, someone please correct me because I'm seriously getting sick of Zak.
Oh, and the new company promotion thing just reminds me of Jeff Bridges from 'How to Lose Friends and Alienate People'. Don't you guys miss Avi Arad already?
