Kick-Ass Character Posters Revealed
Source:Lionsgate
November 5, 2009

Lionsgate has provided us with four character posters for the Matthew Vaughn-directed comic book adaptation Kick-Ass, opening in theaters on April 16.

The action-adventure, based on the Mark Millar and John Romita Jr. comic, tells the story of average teenager Dave Lizewski (Aaron Johnson), a comic-book fanboy who decides to take his obsession as inspiration to become a real-life superhero. As any good superhero would, he chooses a new name -- Kick-Ass -- assembles a suit and mask to wear, and gets to work fighting crime. There's only one problem standing in his way: Kick-Ass has absolutely no superpowers.

His life is forever changed as he inspires a subculture of copy cats, is hunted by assorted violent and unpleasant characters, and meets up with a pair of crazed vigilantes, including an 11-year-old sword-wielding dynamo, Hit Girl (Chloe Moretz) and her father, Big Daddy (Nicolas Cage).

You can check out the posters, which together spell out the title "Kick-Ass," by clicking on the poster below.

Hell yeah.
Gonna be awesome if it isn't delayed a few months.

This movie is definitely gonna kick some serious ass!

It's a great series, but the concept always feels like 'Batman with Spiderman's personality'. Only Mark Miller could come up with that!

Sweet!!!!

Kickass indeed!

Hopefully the movie won't drop off in popularity like the comic has.
My local always has copies on the shelves.

i like that they used the character's name instead of the actors' in the posters.
this movie looks promising.

I wish everybody would stop saying things like "Kick Ass is going to Kick Ass!!!" and "this is Kick Ass"

It's not big, and it's not clever, we get it already, the comic is called Kick Ass and so is the film. You people don't have to turn into walking pun drones.

I love this comic and I want to see this movie sooooooooooooooooo bad!!!!!

I've been a fan of the comic from day 1 (hell, it got me into the RLSH movement) and I seriously loved what I saw of the trailer from Comic-Con. So with all of that PLUS these posters (much agreed with the person above saying that they used the characters' names instead of the actors'), I'm eagerly anticipating this film. It might not be some amazing, ground-breaking film but hey, it's gonna be a great movie to enjoy.

Looks like a green and yellow striped Daredevil! Makes a good daredevil poster. =)

Whoa, the character named himself "Kick-Ass",... Sounds more like "Dumb-Ass". What kind of superhero name is that?

Posted by: Macroni Tony on November 6, 2009 at 08:50:25

Dumb comic = Dumber Movie.

Posted by: Anton Ego on November 6, 2009 at 08:58:22

I'll go ahead and say it: I can't stand this comic. It's like some kind of ultra-violent comic book porn. If this movie is to it's source like Sin City was to it's source, I'll take a pass, thankyouverymuch.

Is the mppa goin to allow them to use "ass" in the title and promotion?

Posted by: Jason Marsh Larouche on November 6, 2009 at 09:32:18

Uhm it's a cool poster and all, but it is too reminiscent of the Spider-Man 2 "Destiny" poster.

Posted by: Honest Fan on November 6, 2009 at 09:35:20

Okay, seriously... who helps him zip that up?

Posted by: The Cape on November 6, 2009 at 09:46:03

kick ass!

And they say colorful spandex costumes don't translate well on film

Posted by: Testicle-Punch on November 6, 2009 at 10:16:23

I wonder how many "Who Wants to be a Super Hero" rejects (like me) will show up in their costumes (besides me)?

If you can't have fun with it, stay home.

Honestly, do you guys really think that this movie is going to do good at the box office? Before you reply to this, please take into account the d@mn subject matter: 11-year-old killing people in the most gruesome ways possible. C'mon!! WTF??!! This should go straight to DVD so hardcore fans like some of you folks on this forum can just purchase and enjoy in the privacy of your baseme... uhm... house. This is just my opinion so don't lose any sleep over it.

Posted by: BIGW1966 on November 6, 2009 at 10:45:12

Actually Chujong I will bet this movie ends up being a surprise hit. It will have the feel of a Tarentino film like Kill Bill. that alone will bring people into it. I think it will do very well.
Oh and I don't have a basement. ;-)

I really hope this is supposed to be a comedy??
