Reilly and Parker are Seeing Red
November 5, 2009
Heat Vision reports that John C. Reilly and Mary-Louise Parker are in talks to join the cast of Red, Summit Entertainment's adaptation of the Wildstorm/DC Comics miniseries being directed by Robert Schwentke.
The film is about former black-ops agent (Bruce Willis), now in retirement, who has to contend with younger, more high-tech assassins who show up to kill him.
Reilly would play a retired CIA agent who is paranoid that everyone is out to kill him.
Parker would play the romantic interest, a federal pension worker who becomes embroiled in the Willis character's struggle to stay alive.
Morgan Freeman and Helen Mirren already are on board for the film, being produced by Lorenzo Di Bonaventura and Mark Vahradian.
DC's Gregory Noveck executive produces with Jake Myers. Jon and Erich Hoeber wrote the script.

This is the only reliable outlet for DC Comics. Non-superhero titles with lots of action for a wider selection of actors.

sounds cool. i like both of these actors and the premise sounds good!

Well great cast but i have never heard of the comic. Ol' Bruce needs a good hit after his last stinker. Reilly is a very good actor and if you need a role filled that calls for an older gentlemen who will guide the main character down the path he needs to go then look no further then Morgan Freeman of course. See, batman, dark knight, wanted, shawshank, bruce almighty, robin hood....man Morgan what gives, LOL.

Red was a very good miniseries. It didn't get too much publicity at the time and it was only by luck that I stumbled across it. The brief synopsis above is pretty much it, a retired black ops agent becomes a target and he tries to stay alive. Not much by way of originality, however it was very well written. The title comes from the process the main character must go through every morning to call in and let his handlers know that he's inactive ("green") or if he's going to cause some trouble ("red"). Let the wackiness ensue.

When I saw "Reilly and Parker," I immediately thought it was going to be Peter Parker and Ben Reilly.

Not a surprise Warner Brothers isn't going to stay faithful to the comics. Adaptations always lets people down. Warren Ellis did an amazing job on the comic. Let's wait and hope for the best.

Reilly & Parker in 'Spider-Man 4: Clone This!'. I'd pay to see that.

Really, Ted? You'd pay to see a movie adaption of the Clone Saga?
Now with multiple characters played by a stiff, unfunny, wooden actor!
By the way, aren't you dead, Ted?

Steve Buscemi should play The Jackal and Judi Dench should be the actress playing the actress playing Aunt May.
And Suri Cruise as Spider-Baby!
Do it, Raimi!

I'm a bit of a geek, but when I saw Reily, I thought John C. and was trying to figure out who Parker was.

@ O: Only if it were played for laughs, hence the clever sub-title. And I DO agree that Tobey needs to go, no arguement there. He's overstayed his welcome.
And no, I'm not dead, I'm a freaking zombie that would love to rip out your heart to power my zombie ring. There's no need to be so overbearing, man, we're just goofing here.
