Warner Bros. Pictures has provided us with the new two-and-a-half minute trailer for Warner Bros.' Sherlock Holmes, opening in theaters on Christmas Day.
In a dynamic new portrayal of Arthur Conan Doyle's most famous characters, the movie sends Holmes (Downey Jr.) and his stalwart partner Watson (Law) on their latest challenge. Revealing fighting skills as lethal as his legendary intellect, Holmes will battle as never before to bring down a new nemesis and unravel a deadly plot that could destroy the country. Rachel McAdams, Mark Strong, Eddie Marsan and Kelly Reilly co-star in the Guy Ritchie-directed film.

Looks fun. I'll go see it.

Why is it opening on Christmas? Has any movie ever made money on that weekend? At least this version looks a little more serious though. Although I still don't like Holmes in an underground boxing match.

Cool! Looking forward.
The only thing I don't like is when the movies are set in England or any other country, the actors don't use the british or foreign accent. In Robert Downey Jr.'s case, it sounds good, but Rachel McAdams sounds like if she wasn't using it. Like John Malkovich, he never uses a foreign accent, even though the films have taken place in other countries.
You can tell when an actors is good. Let's see how this turns out.

And before we get the usual comment, this film is partly based on Lionel Wigram's comic book.

Don't you just hate it when the fabric of nature gets twisted

This will play ad nauseum on HBO.

Oh and about this: "And before we get the usual comment, this film is partly based on Lionel Wigram's comic book."
Why on earth do you people nit pick about whether or not a movie should be listed on this website. It's not like there are dozens of movie news stories posted on this site every day that you have to sift through to find what you are looking for. I can't believe people can be so **** about whether or not a movie news story belongs on SHH.

Once again, sorry to play Captain Obvious, but Sherlock Holmes is not a superhero movie. If SHH is going to cover this film, I expect them to cover Star Trek and The Hobbit as well, since both have been produced in comic book form. Not to mention that on a superhero movie website there are going to be more Tolkien and ST fans than Sir Arthur Conan Doyle fans.
I'm not hating on SHH or the movie, I'm simply posing the question (yet again): Why is SHH covering this film? I've asked several times on several Holmes-related forums and SHH still hasn't answered me.

@ mojo
Because Iron Man was awesome and RDJ had a lot to do with that...I require no further explanation...
Also, you have my vote to play Captain Obvious if they ever make a movie...

SHH:
I didn't even see that comment. My apologies! That does explain it. And don't get me wrong, I wasn't complaining. I haven't seen Sherlock Holmes yet, but I think it looks good and I plan to. I don't mind updates about the film on SHH, I just was never clear on the reason for them. Damn, you guys knew I was going to post that question before I did. 'Scuse me while I go wipe this egg off my face. :)
COLE8.7:
Hey, thanks! As soon as they greenlight the flick, I'm gonna campaign for the role hardcore!...lol
