Columbia Pictures has hired Tropic Thunder writer Etan Cohen to pen the script for Men in Black 3.
There are no deals yet in place for franchise director Barry Sonnenfeld and stars Will Smith and Tommy Lee Jones to return.
The studio is looking to start filming the third installment in 2010, perhaps as early as the spring.
The first two films combined to earn nearly $1.1 billion worldwide.

Second one sucked, we dont need another one.

hmm... hopefully they will make it better than the second one.

If Will and Tommy ain't back, I ain't watchin it. Can't stand third rate, straight to DVD sequels just for the sake of cashing in on a franchise.

I hope the cast and crew come back and I hope it does great.

Men In Black was a Marvel comic or graphic novel. Forgot which, but it qualifies.

YEEEEESSSS!!! Finally some good news! Honestly, the 2nd wasn't the best but I still liked it. The 3rd should be cool and I want to be in it.
Also, they NEED to release that Cartoon Series they had, too. It was hilarious!...

@DatSuperHero
MIB was originally a comic published by malibu, which in turn was bought by Marvel

i agree with unoblink...if will and tommy aren't there i won't be either.

Ugh. I like will, i like the first MIB, the second movie was too short and just plain dull. They will need a new hook for a 3rd one. Personally i would rather see Will Smith do another independence day movie where he take's a repaired space ship to the aliens planet(s) and kick their butts. But i digest (lol) do we really need another MIB movie???

I hope they don't put Bucky in the Captain America movie.

I hope Smith, Jones, AND Rip Torn are all in this movie. I like Rip Torn. He's funny.
And David Cross, maybe. He's a funny guy too, and he was in the first two as well.

Perhaps Will Smith shall finally confront Xenu in an epic space battle! ROFL

Geez it's been how long since the second movie? I hope it's not like watching the third mummy movie and have it bomb the franchise.

If they replace Smith and Jones, they need to go with Mos Def and Gerard Butler.
Posted by: Solidsnake on October 30, 2009 at 08:16:17
I agree the second one did SUX

Even if the stars are replaced, they need Sonnenfeld to return. But ideally they'll all come back. Otherwise we could be looking at another Ace Ventura 3.

This sounds like either straight to DVD or a February release staring a bunch of nobodys and a pair of famous mammary glands.
If they wanna do it right, get Statham and Cheedle and go nuts.

Bah, not interested.

I'd like to see it with a different director. Sonnenfeld is too weird. And trust, without Will Smith, it's a no-go. Don't try to sub Jamie Foxx or somebody! I won't even sniff that one.

Make the third installment with a worthy villian, an alien that is actually scary and bad-ass, with less goofy **** in it...and we could have something worth watching.
And please, no more beat-box scenes...
