Stephen L'Heureux on Sin City 2, Hard Boiled

Comics2Film at Mania.com got a chance to talk to producer Stephen L'Heureux about Sin City 2 and Hard Boiled.

L'Heureux told the site that the Sin City sequel will go into production in the second half of 2010. The sequel will be based on an original script by Frank Miller, who will again co-directed with Robert Rodriguez.

The producer added that Miller is working on the screenplay for Hard Boiled, based on his and Geof Darrow's comic about an insurance investigator-turned-cyborg assassin. Miller is attached to direct the adaptation.

Because Sin City 2 will take up Miller's time for a while, Hard Boiled could take a while to hit theaters. "There's also talk, of course, of 'Sin City 3'," he said.

Finally Sin City2 and hopefully 3. What happened with Ronin?

Posted by: Gepeto on October 29, 2009 at 15:29:03

first one was a classic

Posted by: Swinin' Tree on October 29, 2009 at 15:35:12

Yeah, and what about 300 2?

Sin City 2! YES. That movie brought NOIR back in style. And the novels were kicked arse too (I regress). I'd like to see Miller direct again. But it's been a while since we read any of his works in comic book format. Also, he should direct (or at least be consulted) for the Wolverine 2 movie. He was involved.

I'd also love to see his take on another Elektra movie, minus Jen Garner. But that of course, is just wishful thinking.

"That movie brought NOIR back in style" .. so other films followed its lead? People seemed to hate The Spirit which was rather good.

Posted by: D-Rod on October 29, 2009 at 18:08:44

as long as rodriguez does most of the directing and none of "the spirit" leaks in

Posted by: Devilman on October 29, 2009 at 18:20:19

Keep Miller behind the drawing board and away from the cameras. The Spirit was a waste of time and energy and my money. Rodriguez is the man tho, keep it up Rob.

The Spirit was too goofy for anyone to take seriously the narrations and overly cliche torment of the protagonist. That, and no one really likes Eva Mendes, myself included.

Clive Owen is still smexy, but he has aged a bit since the first Sin City, and it has only been five and a half years since production. His segment in Sin City 2: "A Dame To Kill For" is going to be a prequel to "The Big Fat Kill", so I wonder how they'll manage to pull that off.

The Spirit was rather good? BWAH-HAHAHAHAHAH-HAHAHAHAHA-HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!
That's funny, man, very funny. Ooooooh, I'm tearing up over here. Oh, man, what a wit.

If Sin City 2 is based on an original script by Frank Miller, does that mean he's adapting one of his own books himself, or this will be a whole new story he's writing?

second half of 2010 to start production?! The worlds gonna end in 2912, we might never see this movie

Posted by: el scorcho on October 29, 2009 at 20:55:53

i mean 2012

Posted by: Nafai on October 29, 2009 at 21:01:31

no it isn't. goddamn white people.

Posted by: Brownsatan on October 29, 2009 at 21:11:16

Why is no one talking about HARD BOILED?! If you don't know about it, it's not like the Japanese version starring Chow Yun Fat. It's totally different about an insurance agent who's actually a robot. Tons of carnage, tons of blood and Geoff Darrow's art is SICK!!!! If you can, check out the trade paperback. I think Miller'll have a pretty good time with that one!

Posted by: Chow Yun Fat on October 29, 2009 at 21:20:17

The movie HARDBOILED, which starred Chow Yun Fat, isn't a Japanese movie. It's a Hong Kong movie.

Agree with Brownsatan, Hard Boiled is brilliant.
I've been waiting a very long time for Sin City 2. The Spirit was cool for what it is.
Ever since I wasted my time watching DATE MOVIE, I have to say that Sophie Monk is Ava Lord. To me it even looks like Frank Miller could have used her as a modle for Ava.

Hard Boiled was a bad-*ss comic mini-series. I still own it. Nothing but killing, guts, blood and over-the-top violence.

Posted by: mojojackson on October 30, 2009 at 15:27:28

Man, if they adapt Hard Boiled, they should have Miller write the screenplay and have the film directed by the Wachowski brothers! The production design for the Matrix films was done by Darrow, and it really brought the complexity of his visuals to life.

Posted by: Batchat on October 30, 2009 at 20:56:11

It'll all fall apart. They'll still be talking about making Sin City 2 twenty years from now.

Posted by: fettastic on October 30, 2009 at 22:19:21

The original story is Nancy Callahan as a detective. Unfortunately a large portion of the film was to revolve around Mickey Rourke's character, But he has since said he got tired of waiting and is no longer interested.39yg4v

we SHOULD get to see the movie, the mayan calender doesn't end until december thirty-first 2012.
maybe we'll get to see a good movie JUST before the end of the world...ROLL CREDITS!!

Posted by: Justice on October 30, 2009 at 23:42:36

Frank Miller needs to stay away from movies.
He has amazing credibility in the comic book world, but when it comes to film and movies, the execution is sloppy, repetetive, predictable, and boring. The only credit I give him is stylistic autorship, but even that is getting old.

Posted by: Brian on October 31, 2009 at 01:03:23

Miller directing??? doesnt anybody remember the FIASCO of the spirit where he RAPED Will eisners true vision!!!!! I mean for gods sake the TV movie starring Sam Jones (flash gordon) was WAAAAY more accurate! I think the honorary director title they gave him for sin city went to his head!@

So no Red Sonja?

Posted by: Mr.mellow on November 3, 2009 at 13:32:17

I see a lot people people slamming miller as a director, and yes we all know spirit sucked but i wouldn't mind miller trying something else. I mean it was his first time directing and i think it was just a bad choice for him to start with that idea. Anyway i'm just ready for sin city 2
