Fox21 and Platinum Developing Indestructible Man
Source:Platinum Studios
October 20, 2009

20th Century Fox Television production entity FOX 21 and Platinum Studios, Inc. have partnered to develop for TV the upcoming Platinum Studios comic book series "Indestructible Man."

"Indestructible Man," which tells the story of Nick Rabel, an elite secret agent who can't be killed and discovers the hard way the difference between "indestructible" and "unbreakable," is an original property that hails from Platinum Studios' large multi-universe library of over 5,600 comic characters.

Platinum Studios, Inc. Chairman and CEO Scott Mitchell Rosenberg (Dead of Night) would serve as executive producer.

"This is a fun comic story where our indestructible lead character has major issues," said Chris Carlisle, President of FOX 21. "Scott and his team at Platinum have created a unique combination of superpowers and humor."

"Chris and his team really understood this character and the world he inhabits from the very first meeting," said Rosenberg. "Now the fun begins!"

There was a TV show back in the 80s called "I-Man" with Scott Bacula. No, not "Quantum Leap", before that...

Hollywood is out of ideas, people! Or have you forgotten?!...

@ dancin spidey - please grow up.

As far as the show, I'm always up for another superhero-related TV show. This could turn out to be a sleeper hit.

@ joker boy
your absolutely correct 1,000 percent. film makers been copying,re-making movies for years
for example I thought will smith "independence day" movie was an original and "men in black"
but there not. independence day is a low budget 1932 B/W movie about establishing independence from british colonies back in 1800's and "men in black" is a 1934 B/W movie. its about goverment agents who secretly spy on russian H-BOMB plans. far from aliens.... these director now days take something old give it a twist make you think its new but not.
another "THE DAY EARTH STOOD STILL" another remake. with keanu reeves instead of micheal rainy

@hotrider12
Men in Black was a comic book adaptation movie. It had nothing to do with a 1934B/w movie. Gut other than that you are right Hollywood is out of ideas so they copie and remake everything some good some VERY bad.

I guess Bruce Willis will star in this since he was Unbreakable.

Posted by: Here we go again! on October 20, 2009 at 08:29:59

Will the character be a Captain and dressed in Scarlet…

"Rabel"...is that supposed to sound similiar to "Rebel"? That's very cheesey. Hollywood needs some new talent out there.

Nick Rabal = Roflcopter

Sounds like a failure

Posted by: Bwuce on October 20, 2009 at 11:55:09

"...large multiple universe of over 5000 characters..." that we've never heard of. Now tell me or better yet show me why I should care. Sounds lame and generic

Isn't this comic called Brit by Robert Kirkman?

Who remembers IMAN? I watched a lot of tv as a kid, and im 31 and i dont remember IMan? I wish movie and television companies would give something where fans could submit scripts or ideas and they paid them for the project. Do any of you guys have any original ideas? I mean im not complaining about all the remakes, just the ones that arent necessary such as Nightmare on elm street, Friday the 13th Halloween, Superman,(sarcasm, i know it wasnt a remake but it just felt like one)Robocop, and so on these movie where fine back then and fine now, they need to expand on them and run with it, not remake. So they come to comicbooks for ideas and stories now, not a problem but damn man stop putting crap out there thats not true to the comics. Just because you put a character from the comics in there and his bad guy, doesnt equal right!!!Or putting a bunch of other super powered freaks in the movie and thinking the people will love it( Im talking to you Wolverine!) Thats my rant and im sticking to it.

I've seen this movie under another name...
I think it was called...... Superman??!

Hey mpcjuggernaut... get out of mommy's basement and READ some BOOKS. It's a sideways reference to rabble (as in a rabblerouser).

rab⋅ble
/ˈræbəl/[rab-uhl] Show IPA noun, verb, -bled, -bling.

–noun
1. a disorderly crowd; mob.
2. the rabble, the lower classes; the common people: The nobility held the rabble in complete contempt.

–verb (used with object)
3. to beset as a rabble does; mob.
Origin:
1350–1400; ME rabel (n.), of uncert. orig.

Pass. I've grown tired of the super spy genre. The world needs something better.

Posted by: Annoyed SuperFan on October 21, 2009 at 11:01:21

Didnt the try this show with a woman called PAINKILLER JAYNE? No wait, it was a cheerleader called CLAIRE.... on no I am mistaken it was a mutant called WOLVERINE. I'm so annoyed. Get a NEW idea... PLEASE!

Posted by: Superman Sux My Bawls on October 21, 2009 at 13:32:51

so yea, basically lets dress up some douche from a spy agency and call him indestructible man. stupid and lame, why try and steal the thunder from Superman(who sux bawls deeply into his throat cause he's a corny ass superhero) why are they trying to ruin the comic book world by adapting everything into a movie or tv series? these adaptions suck! who the hell wants to watch their favorite superhero from their favorite comic book be butchered in a new form on screen cause they decide to take ceative liberties to help he viewers understand him more cause most people who see these shows arent even familiar with them in the first place. how about directing a movie towards the fan base, you'll still make alot of money especially if all he fans give thumbs up cause we're the one who ruely decide, you think the sports jockey up the street cares about the next spiderman movie? no, he's too busy banging his girlfriend and shooting steroids. do you know who is waiting in anticipation for the next movie? US THE FANS!!! stop ruining the one thing that we have left!! ou bastards destroyed Deadpool, disgraced WOlverine in his own movie, tore apart venom and shoved him in raimis ass and then crapped him out onto the film, made punisher look like a complete and total waste of time to watch.....etc......how about i take a dump in a brown bag and we call it Crap in a Bag the series featuring Tom Hanks as the last negro on earth

When Fox switches it's Chief Executive Officer, please let me know!

Posted by: Where's my face?! on October 21, 2009 at 22:36:50

@ Jack

I thought of Rabble-rouser too, however the most common definition/usage being " one that stirs up (as to hatred or violence) the masses of the people " doesn't exactly go far to explain how the word ties into the name of this character.

There is no proof that the name is related to that word.
Unless you know something we all don't, if so please share.

Personally I think a secret agent spy would want to do the opposite of inciting a crowd and drawing attention.

Not sure this fits.

Indestructible Man
(1956)

Starring Lon Chaney Jr.

Scientific experiments accidentally revive an executed criminal and make him impervious to harm, prompting him to seek revenge on his former partners.

-----

Not exactly an original concept but maybe they have a twist on it.
Like...he can't DIE...but he can get F'ed up something fierce and end up in a full body cast all the time?.

Hmmm...that could really hinder his spying quite often.

Not sure how much humor you can get out of that and I don't have much faith in Hollywood or FOX.

Especially FOX.

I MAN was a made for TV movie featuring Scott Backula who played Dr. Sam Beckett on Quantum Leap. The movie was great hope I could get it on DVD in FULL FRAME because let's face it WIDESCREEN BLOWS DOGS. Whomever told movie companies that widescreen was great was on METH or CRACK and he is an IDIOT!!!!!!!!!!

Posted by: Screenscribe on October 22, 2009 at 20:52:03

The first thing I thougth of was the IMan TV show with Scott Bakula. I figured it was a remake of that but I guess not. It is possible that the Producers have never seen the previous Indestructible Man. But if they have the line "But your indestructible!" then "yeah, but it still hurts!" then we know for sure.
